Quite a striking design, I like it very much. It is a lot wider and lower at the front than the current model. The side profile has interesting sculpturing but I don't like the heavy front overhang. Nice to see Peugeot going back to their former routes. The 308 badge is on the front above the grill like in older models, like the 504.

The car's design and interior is something that looks suitable from the Citroen brand, its very bold for Peugeot. I think I like it. Its certainly striking and a breath of fresh air.

Front overhang grew considerably, as I suspected.

Not good, at all! Explains the ugly protruding snout perfectly well. The upright design of the hood makes it even worse to me. From the front to the A pillar, from a profile view, looks just extremely poor to me. Shame cause the rest is pretty nice indeed.

The front overhang did gain 4cm but the base of the windshield has also been considerably pushed back as explained by the designers, and the main focal point IMO isn't the overhang but rather the long premium-like hood with a much more elegant and statusy allure from profile.

This was how it was described back in january 2020 in a L'argus article. This is the translated text

It has often been said that this third generation of 308s would be a continuation of the current one. It is true and false. The car will indeed retain dimensions close to the current model, but it will display a more dynamic style: to give the engine hood length, the cabin has been moved back, thus giving the silhouette of the BMW 1 Series … old generation

So the information was close, longer hood, it is not exactly like the 1er but as close once could make it with a FWD platform.

Looks miles sleeker, more elegant, more refined and more mature than its predecessor. Also, the wheels are only 18" but look surprisingly big enough, even though the trend is bigger and bigger, the C-hatch competition reaches 19" or even 20" (sister model DS4), and the previous gen GTI is wearing 19" here - the sleeker and lower body certainly helps in this regard.
