308 [Official] From spied to Official: 2021 Peugeot 308 MK 3

The Peugeot 308 is a small family car (C-segment car; compact car in North America) produced by Peugeot. Production: 2007–
I have no issues with the front, the rear is still covered, but oh my that front overhang!

I don't understand why Peugeot insists on this. I noticed a 407 this morning, which is a 15 years old model and has a front overhang the size of Titanic. They still can't get it right it seems!

The front overhang is on par with what is being done across the segment and on FWD vehicles in general (the latest Volvo sedans though come to mind as a brilliant exception). Manufacturers have to deal with increasingly stringent crash regulations, there is stuff installed in front of the engine (radiators, fluids, sensors...), no one would be ruining the overall packaging for no reason. Granted, the 407 and especially the 407 Coupé were atrociously disproportionate in this regard and probably could have done much better.

Frankly this new 308's front fascia has a very strong character and a feral look to it which one would otherwise typically expect from BMW (except the latest 1er looks bland and tame as a sheep).

In theory, the new shield/coat of arms style badge (a la Porsche, Ferrari, Koenigsegg...) does give it a traditional heraldic look and cachet (though the units on the front fenders may just be over the top). In reality, it looks very flat (in-built radar sensor to blame here probably) and just washed out and not legible from a distance, they should try to somehow make those white graphics whiter/brighter against the black background.

^^ I was going to say from the side profile, it kinda looks like the previous gen M135/140i sans the front overhang

Seriously bro?

There were various articles last year that this is what Peugeot was aiming for, low with long hood like the prev gen bmw1 er.

I hate those vertical LED strips, so called fangs. All in all, an overly busy front, with boring side profile.

And the scuderia like side emblems? Pleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaase

Though I disagree about your criticism of the overall design, which I'll admit is a little bit busy but objectively has a hell of a character and a mean focused look, I do agree that the side badges are just over the top. However they will certainly only be offered on the GT and GT Line high-end trims and likely with a free delete option.

Now although Peugeot doesn't have Ferrari's prestigious image, frankly it's had a rich and glorious motorsport history as well and much more broadly across the board -- rally, rallycross, rally raid (Paris-Dakar), hill climbing (Pikes Peak), endurance racing (Le Mans), and a jab at Formula 1 -- and if side badges have a sporty flavor there certainly is nothing to be ashamed of. But since the new badge's shield shape itself does spontaneously evoke Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Koenigsegg I can get the sarcasm.

I think the 208 is better achieved, in general of the entire line this is that I see more common, the 3008, 5008, and even the new 2008 are wonderful to see on the streets

This pinched and horizontally stretched out rear end design is begging for a slim PEUGEOT lettering on the black strip or in-between the windshield and the black strip, instead of the brand's new badge burdening the clean tailgate beneath. As Lamborghini does. The corporate have probably had their say in slapping the brand's new badge on the rear fascia as well instead.

Peugeot

Peugeot is a French brand of automobiles owned by Stellantis. Founded in 1810, Peugeot is regarded as the oldest car company in the world. On 20 November 1858, Émile Peugeot applied for the lion trademark. Armand Peugeot (1849-1915) built the company's first car steam tricycle. They joined forces with Léon Serpollet in 1886; this was followed in 1890 by an internal combustion car with a Panhard-Daimler engine.
