Should probably have just called it an i560 given that it's got much better credentials as a luxury cruiser.

It’s well known how the BMW nomenclature works. There’s parity between ICE M340i, M560e (like erstwhile M550i) etc and EV i4 M50, i5 M60.
At no point does BMW market these as outright M Cars.

No serious review is putting the EQE ahead of anything. My point was that I already knew the result would be “surprissing” before clicking when I saw it was our buddy leylandy the one posting it.

No matter how silly the i5 might look to some, every review has placed it ahead of the EQE.

Just wanted to add that the grille as seen above in the 520i YT vid looks pretty great and transforms the car from ugly to nice looking (the old school chrome grille with slats). All the other grilles are absolutely beyond hideous, worse than any other Bimmer in history...

Truly hope the M5 comes with the classic grille.

Except perhaps this one which is a surprise. This tester is 2m tall and he says there is more legroom in the backseat of the EQE than the i5. So not sure why Autocar mention the EQE having the least space.

Just saying the current classic grille is coverd up up so no air flow. I agree with what you say.

Well, the air intake on the new M5 front bumper seems huge, so not sure if the “real” grille will be that needed.

I mean the system will still generate a lot of heat. Some of the cooling will be needed for the batteries, and the V8 will also need a bunch of air.

Hybrid will probably add a lot of complexity in thermal management.

I thought the same till I relalized some of the slats are painted on!

Yeah you had already mentioned that before. It's not ideal, but it looks a bazillion times better than the other grilles.
And it's not some of the slats, it's all of the slats. Painted on a piece of black plastic.

It'll be physical horizontal slats and the amount of cooling required will largely be known from the XM, which does have open grilles but still not the full area you see from the outside.

If it does have a 'flat' patch it'll be for the same reason as it is on other cars, sensors.

I have seen several new G60s on the street already, and the painted slats do the trick.
