Looks amazing

Thanks. I wasn’t aware that there’s a difference but expected the crystals to be standard.

BMW charges extra for iluminated recycled plastic bottles.

Jokes aside, they could have put an aluminum trim at least where the acrylic stripe is mounted. It would look classy and sporty instead. It costs nothing even offering it in various shades for each configuration. But well…

That looks so cheap. I am sure everyone will order the crystal bars after seeing this.
But you can order this (crystal interaction bar) only for i5. The 5 Series with combustion engines does not have this option. Only that cheap looking ambient lighting.

I have been told at my local dealer that the light bar will be available from the first quarter of 2024.

Based on the German configurator at this moment, the crystal interaction bar is standard on the plug-in hybrid models: 530e and 550e. But none for the 520i and 520d.

that sucks, cause the crystal bar looks alot better than the ugly ambient light strip,

The base ambient light strip looks so dull and cheap. It does not blend well with the rest of cabin design.

Talking about the missing features, the Adaptive Suspension Professional that is optional for an i5 eDrive40 is still unavailable for the 520i, 520d and 530e. While the 550e and i5 M60 are both having an Adaptive M Suspension Professional as their extra components.

They clearly want to push people towards the PHEV and the BEVs. But at the end of the day, most people will buy the 520s because it's the cheapest entry point into a 5er.

A 530e with 60mile electric only range if BMW launch one, will be the sweet spot.
