I cant seem to like this 5 series, its design seems to angular and odd from certain angles and the increase in the front and rear overhangs by over 70mm makes its proportions look less perfect than other older models.

the standard grill looks much better than the ugly black piano plastic grill in the M60 where the sensor is so much more visible.

The interior looks mostly good but also is a mixed bag of parts from the 3 series such as the curved screen and some elements, such as the light bars from the 7-series. There is some noticeable cost cutting evident in the interior. The door panels especially, look at the black plastic all electric switches and hard scratchy looking black plastic surround the switches on the doors. The back doors dont have any trim or lighting, if its without the fancy silver speaker covers then it's all black. The upper door trim and dash top doesn't have any stitching. The seats look nice in all the colours and sports and comfort seats.

Its a huge car now at 5060mm long and almost as big as a G11 7-series

Here is a comparison of its dimensions:
Length - 5060mm (Mercedes W214 E-class - 4949mm, BMW G11 7-series - 5098mm)
Width - 1900mm (Mercedes W214 E-class - 1880mm, BMW G11 7-series - 1902mm)
Wheelbase - 2995mm (Mercedes W214 E-class - 2961mm, BMW G11 7-series - 3070mm)
Height - 1515mm (Mercedes W214 E-class - 1468mm, BMW G11 7-series - 1467mm)

While I think the W214 E-class looks better than the G60 5-series, but I must say the i5 does look better than the EQE!
That last part is applicable to most modern cars, though.
