This shot here! I'm going to confess now....I have never liked any car's pic from this angle in my whole life, until this car! I don't know what it is about this styling, but they've done something extraordinary. This angle was my personal worst bar this car.

I'd rather see THE STAR on the bonnet and not bulges.
Hmmm...let me think? Yeah, bulges definitely for me. I've seen the star behind several Mercs but my first E87 BMW was enough to demonstrate what a proper bonnet should look like!

Come on man, seriously? I'm sorry I couldn't get the exact angle or rotation (it's the opposite) but I can think of a few surely you've liked in your life? No?

Ultimately it doesn't matter it's your preference, but the whole life thing got me intrigued a little, that's all!🙂

Thinks Merc and Volvo's of the 90s.

Exactly what I was thinking, the red-white-red sandwich color scheme taillights have too much of a historical Mercedes vibe to them. But as D. Dukec put it in the BMW Blog interview, the design team believed that BMW taillights weren't as iconic as their headlights, so they decided to go ahead and just double them in order to mimick what's going on in the front (double headlights, double kidney grille). Hence the 5er, the X5 LCI, the Dee, the i Vision Circular...

I think the thick, simple, single brush stroke L-shape made for a particularly striking light signature, with still plenty of leeway left to play with in terms of volume and texture (even though Audi or Lexus then also sometimes came to mind). I don't think that splitting the one thick stripe in two very thin parallel stripes like on the 5er makes for a more striking visual impact, but hopefully in the future they'll stick them close enough together that it looks like one single stripe from a distance and maintain a little L-shape uptick at the extremities

Without the intention of answering for him, but i understand what you say, the photo from that angle of the E32 seen in his time was the one that I remember the most and I liked the most, the sculpture of the hood had such a characteristic fluidity and key to the design.

In the case of the 5 series, we see how those of the M3, M4 were added almost without anyone noticing, a ferocious and important detail transferred from the most aggressive of the line to one of the most "sober", as I said, the 5 series is a car to go little by little discovering the details

For example I just saw the angle (rectilinear) in which the headlights close towards the fenders, I had not noticed it before and it looks cool

Its sad, the 5 has always been strong , Every generation. When i saw the spy pics and saw them not opt for the rhino nose, I thought they were continuing the tradition of the solidity in terms of 5er design.

And I do believe this was the intention.

But the designers were given an impossible task. The managements decision to make the 5er ICE and EV f#cked up the design of the car. The stance was lost in this process.

Hate the EQ line as much as you want but it actually frees up MB designers to design proper looking ICE cars. It’s probably more expensive to do it that way and in the long term more of a hard transition when they go all electric.

With all that said they could still do. Better job despite the work order of a combined platform.

For eg this back seat has no excuse, and so does many other iffy features ( the lower character line, the f#cked up kink etc)

Wait...

You can actually type proper sentences. #mindblown

p.s. Very fair points you make.

Agree. Although the tail lights on the G60 are not stereotypical of BMW, they are traditional which Is in keeping with the appeal of the 5 Series.

I hold the belief that the car is conservative compared with the heavily Dee inspired Bimmers that will be released in the next 2-3 years.

That i5 grille looks terrible to me. Has nothing left to do with a BMW kidney, even less so than the 7er.

Standard grille looks 10 times better, but still not the best.

That's arguably after folk laid their hands all over the place, but hopefully the lower body gloss black parts won't be too sensitive to dust, weather and stone chipping over time or will be easily replaceable after a while

The model series number imprint on the bodywork itself gives it a nice handcrafted feel

In that photo as few, can see how long it is, summarizing the focus group of all the youtubers and testers in general express that they like it, they are much less polarized than with the 7 series, IRL should impact that fact since they are 10 centimeters further
