So instead of making the worlds best comfort seat with adjustable upper seat back and headrest with adjustable pillow, they put an $5 add-on pillow on the headrest that are 20cm away from your head. Great move, BMW. Not.

How could we go from this to this new comfort seat that has functions like the old standard seats..? It's a sad time to be a BMW enthusiast.

The previous comfort seats fitted to the 5 and 7 series were extremely comfortable and had huge adjustments and I am guessing are more comfortable than the seats in the new 5.

They are. Even the E39 had more features to the seats than the G60. Someone in BMW should be fired for ruin the brand.

The E39 had brilliant seats. They were extremely comfortable, I remember sitting in the 528i in 1996 and it had such soft padding and leather it was more comfortable than most sofas

Can you name the differences? I can't be bothered looking up the seat specs of the G60.

But then again, stuff like this:

.....is some seriously rose tinted glasses. Truly the first time I hear about the brilliance of the E39 seats like that. They were good seats without a doubt, but this high praise? Nah. MB seats were more comfortable. Volvo seats too. And most French seats were too in those days.

Ε39 seats are terrible. The stock seats are unworthy of the BMW badge, leather or no leather. I have those in my E39. M-pack seats were good, but not good enough. I have a set of those waiting to be put in the car. The M5 seats were quite comfortable, but less supportive compared to the M-pack seats, so not quite there, yet. The M5 Heritage seats looked even better and were even less supportive.

Volvo seats FTW!

This definitely sounds more in line with what was actually said about the E39 seats back in the day.

I'm already 1.500€ into updates for my E39 seats. I sat in M-pack and M5 seat back to back, before deciding that the M-pack is the way to go.

I'm also 2.500€ in parts as I've decided to retrofit a MkIV nave with DSP sound and the M-SoundSystem speakers from the E39 M5.

Old BMWs are really something else. They suck money like a gambling addiction, but when they work, between dead ignition coils and intake air leaks, they are f*cking brilliant.

BTW, I forgot the Comfort seat, that came with the V8 models. They are basically the same seats as with high-end E38 models. They are those with the fancy head-rest. Utterly comfortable, but no side support. Also, they only came as electric, thus you seat considerably higher than in manually adjustable seats.

All of you do realize that different markets may get different specs, seat comfort and features included? Also let’s not forget everybody‘s individual experiences can vastly differ.

American fat asses ought to have their own XXL seats sure, but in reality....... What the hell is seat comfort? LMAO, you act as if there's different seats for different markets.
And no kidding individual experiences differ. You have less space in your seat if you're carrying 75 kg of extra fat ;) Surely that will affect comfort just a wee bit.

E39 comfort seats (the E38 contour seat is even better with sport seat bottom):
- Adjustable seat backrest
- Adjustable upper seat back
- Active seat ("massage" functions)
- Electric headrest
- Lumbar support
- Electric adjustable

E60/F10/G30 comfort seat:
- Adjustable seat backrest
- Adjustable upper seat backrest
- Active seat or massage seat
- Active seat width support (E60 thing)
- Active seat ventilation
- Electric headrest with adjustable pillow
- Tigh support
- Lumbar support
- Seat width adjustment
- Electric adjustable

G60 comfort seats:
- Adjustable seat backrest
- Manual headrest
- Lumbar support
- Seat width adjustment
- Tigh support
- Electric adjustable

For reference to the bad G60 "comfort seat". Here was the opportunity for the E60 standard seat which has more features than the G60 comfort seats:
- Adjustable seat backrest
- Electric adjustable headrest
- Lumbar support
- Active ventilation
- Active seat
- Electric adjustable

The adjustment for the G60 comfort seat are likely the same as the E60 standard seat.

Thanks for that. The cost cutting is obvious on all levels. Sad indeed.

Not being able to separately open the rear window of the Touring is the worst offender feature wise though. I will never forgive them that omission.
