I see black plastic around the door frames to hide the door paint. I remember it being a huge discussion on GCF. Well done Scott, you listened to us.(y)

Btw, some new videos:

I'm very intrigued by the boomerang vent and its role in the whole air curtain design. The air curtain is designed to create a high pressure flow of air across the front wheels (always a considerable source of aero drag) thus improving laminar flow in this area by venting it from the slits in the front bumper. All very good and rational so far.

Clearly, the boomerang vent has little to do with the air curtain as defined in BMW's public domain product information as it's positioned in the wake of the air curtain flow. It may certainly serve a purpose - perhaps as a means to cleaning up dirty air flow inside the wheel arch - but I'm willing to bet that aerodynamic efficiency without the vents will drop negligibly.

I'll be interested to see whether this feature appears on the new 2er, facelifted 5er and whatever else because it certainly seems unrequired on a regular F30.

If we look beyond the negativity and the fact that is forever overlooked by the media that BMW has more than market.
we will see a car that is very much with the times , especially for the European market. The interesting part of its design and even more so evident with the M Packet is a car that has that symbol of sportiness in its design , the front of the car is for example very sport orientated and the wider kidney grille. Illustrates that perfectly.
The luxury line has that extra addition of 7er detailing to the interior but be in no doubt this is a quality product from BMW.

The car truly shows that individual touch and it is hoped that will appeal to the customer.

Sorry, my internets been crap the last couple of days, do we see in the videos whether or not the rear doors are pillarless? They are on the 5 GT if I'm not mistaken

It's not until you see it beside the saloon and estate that you realise just how much bigger it is. Hides its size surprisingly well.

^ The rear interior shots already show ample space. Moreso than the 3er sedan and Touring.

They are pillar less , yes.

They are not. There is a C pillar as well as D pillar :)
You mean frameless....

Clearly I can see that myself ;) I think the grille of the F34 would look great on the F30 :D

Haha. Sorry Klier, I misread your post. I though you meant F30 and F34 grill were the same. I was even quite surprised you didn't see the difference, which actually isn't the case.

Then to answer to your question; no it isn't only you. I too like the F34 grill, maybe even all front, of F34 more than F30. :)

I gotta say I am stunned. I was expecting to hate this car the moment it gets official. But I almost like it.

BTW, why can't we get frameless doors in the sedan, as well?

When I view the 3GT I instantly think of the X1 but for the opposite reason. With the 3GT its mimicking a saloon type car but with the commanding driving position more akin to an SUV where as the X1 is trying to mimic an SUV but with the driving position of a normal car.

Why can't the saloon get frameless window too?

Simple, then what would be their argument for charging so much on the 3GT.

+1

I like frameless windows, like on the new QP also. Well, infact we can get frameless windows on sedans too, they are called GranCoupé. :D

Up until the latest generation, you would have frameless doors with a regular Impreza. I used to love that little cute Scoob, because of that.

Giannis is getting all warm and fuzzy, ain't that sweet. LOL

Huh?
