2 Series [Official] The New BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer (F45)

The BMW 2 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since the year 2014. The 2 Series was created when BMW spun-off the 2-door models (coupé and convertible) of the BMW 1 Series into a separate series.
I actually own one of this car. I have compared other similar MPVs. but BMW 2GT is superior on many levels including price. Here in Europe bigger is not better. 'There are other bigger mpvs/suvs for the same price' is not valid in this case. with MPVs it is handy to have few more options like sunroof, leather seat (easy to clean with kids). park assistant and few more. If you add all this extra to cars like zafira you will end up with the same price as BMW. In the case of Touran it gets even more expensive. Believe me, I did my calculation - highend Touran is more expensive. BMW is expensive at lower end, and it is not as handy as Touran. but I think the style and interior quality of BMW will compensate the handy-ness of Touran.
You must be the first and last guy here to have kind words for that car.

True words. I took compared premium cars against cheaper alternatives earlier this year, and once you choose a decent engine and add "nice to haves", the premium cars aren't that much more expensive than a comparably equipped VW or Japanese car. Guess which one will have better resale value? Don't even mention VW, their cars are unusually expensive.

BMW Makes Small Changes To 2-Series GT, Sends Prototypes Out In Public

I assumed the previous 2 series van is called the Gran Tourer, but it was ironically named the active tourer. So now that this new thing is released will people still buy the smaller van?

The Seven Seater is the Gran Tourer and the Five Seater is the Active Tourer.

Munich’s MPVs make way for high-riders

Don’t expect to see a replacement for BMW’s 2 Series Active Tourer and seven-seat Gran Tourer, at least for some time. BMW’s product management vice-president, Peter Henrich, claims the current MPVs have “done an excellent job in bringing new customers to our brand” but are now “not at the centre of what our brand today stands for”. “We will see about moving Gran Tourer customers to our SUVs,” he added.

It is strange being that the sales of the "active tourer" are perfectly fine, will this information be correct?

They are consolidating the model portfolio - axing the (niche) models that are too local, too Euro-centric. Focusing more on the models with global appeal & presence. Therefore 3er GT has been axed. And therefore 2er Tourers will be axed too. Despite all the mentioned selling well. I expect 6er GT to be axed too after this generation.

There will be more focus on SAVs & SACs: from X1 to iNext. Expect X1 to be bigger with the next gen + L version (6-7 seats) will become globally available, not only exclusive for Chinese market.

It's a general trend. Many carmakers are ditching typical (mini)vans in favour of SAVs / SAVish crossovers (Nissan Qashqai style).

Any news on the X8?

BMW is expected to introduce the iJoke brand in the coming months. Stay tuned!

It survives because it's a huge seller. The 225e for example makes up a lot of annual sales and is in fact not only the best selling F45 in various markets but the best seller in its segment for many markets.
I expect possibly a full EV model will be added to increase its appeal.
I have also heard that there might be another significant change to this second generation Active Tourer.

Inserts Evil Cacklely laugh.:D

Look at the size of the kidney grille.;)

Jesus, this looks as terrible as the first gen.
WTF BMW, you have a new CEO. Discontinue these models ASAP! Kill 'em with fire.

The Seven Seater is the Gran Tourer and the Five Seater is the Active Tourer.

The AC is sort of acceptable, the AT is the worst looking BMW in the 100 year history of the brand.

It has to do with the snout not the 2GT in particular.
I have nothing against the 2GT. It is bound to soon be the 3rd best looking car in BMW's portfolio.
