Meh... Knowing Audi, that’s probably how the S8 will look like, save the grille and exhaust work. Those rims look terrible and small in person.

So many different fake exhaust finisher designs for one car.

Oh dear, it looks like a big S3 at the front with far too many small openings. Yet again, styling wise the A8 is beyond fixing.

It's a shame because the car is a technical masterpiece, but I wouldn't ever buy a car that looks so dowdy.

Have you noticed the S, 7 and A8 all have the ability to be specced with very liberal amounts of chrome in certain guises.

Not that large German luxury sedans are volume-sellers here in the home market...

But now that the D5 A8 has been on the market for some time, they are a very rare sight on our roads. Even in affluent greater Hamburg. I recall that the D4 became relatively popular quickly, the D3 even more so.

Even Chancellor Merkel continues to roll in a D4.

Frankly, I'd rather see her rolling in a handcart to oblivion...but hey, I'm getting too political, right ?

Don't like the design of the last years Audis. They are very good at interior design and interior material quality, but the rest is not up to my taste. And they have a very steril feeling when driving them, not as emotional as for example BMW. I liked the Audis in the 80's (before they became so popular). I drove a Audi 100 5E a lot, a fantastic car with a lot of personality.

2019 Audi S8 Scooped With Sportier Styling And More Power

2019 Audi S8 has been spied virtually undisguised while undergoing testing on and around the Nürburgring.

Looking virtually identical to the standard model, the high-performance S8 has a handful of subtle styling touches that indicate this isn’t your ordinary luxury sedan. The most noticeable changes occur out back as the car has a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system and a new rear bumper with a mesh design below the reflectors. A closer inspection also reveals a new diffuser which is unique to the model.

Moving forward, the car has modestly revised side skirts and special alloy wheels. Engineers also installed a high-performance braking system with grey calipers featuring “Audi Sport” badging.

It remains unclear if the model is wearing a production front bumper but it’s a tad sportier than the one used on the A8. However, it may just be temporary placeholder as it appears identical to the bumper that comes as part of the A8 Sport package.

Photographers couldn’t get close enough to snap interior photos but the cabin should largely carryover from the standard model. Of course, we can expect a handful of unique touches including a sport steering wheel, special trim and plenty of S8 badging.

Power will likely be provided by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. It develops 550 hp (410 kW) and 567 lb-ft (767 Nm) of torque in the Porsche Panamera Turbo but the S8 is expected to be rated at approximately 530 hp (395 kW). If previous reports are correct, the engine could enable the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in around 4.0 seconds before hitting a top speed in excess of 185 mph (297 km/h).

The model could eventually be joined by a more extreme S8 Plus which uses the powertrain from the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. If this happens, the model may have around 630 hp (469 kW).

The Audi S8 is expected to be unveiled later this year so look for a possible unveiling at the Paris Motor Show.

Lowered ride height, wider track, genuine quad exhaust outlets and a bit less chrome should improve the D5s' visual appearance considerably.

I loved the D4 S8 but this one doesn't even come close in terms of visual appearance.

Real exhaust pipes on an Audi is a very welcome sight. Otherwise, I don't think the "S" treatment will save the A8 this time round.

An interesting take on the D5 A8. Early 1990s' DTM Audi V8 retrostyle:

Perhaps a remote reference to M-Bs' legendary 1971 W109 300 SEL "Rote Sau".

And as Audi is a Bavarian company, they could call it "Wuida Sau". Yeah, that'd work.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
