Actually, they don't look solid enough. Just some metal rings wrapped around with some sort of fabric?
I believe those fabric/nylon ducts are designed to reduce intake noise?

You can soundproof the PVC pipes, but the best way to reduce the intake noise is to soundproof the whole engine bay, which is also standard practice.

Gorgeous S63 at the carwash.

I've seen it at least three times whenever I'm there.
Could this be a sign :eye8:

I think I got a bit of understanding of the mindset of a S 65 buyer. My friend just put in a deposit for a S 65 coupe, at $500k AUD..... He is upgrading from his 12 months old S 500 coupe because he really liked the car and he wanted something even smoother to drive and he isn't a fan of Bentley or RR.

^ I hope the Australian government is doing a lot of good things with that amount of taxes and fees.
Looking at the conditions of our roads, I honestly don't know where our money goes to....the LCT stands for Luxury car tax, which is ridiculous, and the tax rate compounds on top of one and another, just the tax alone on the S 65 can buy a E 43, or C 63.

I doubt the Luxury car tax goes back into the roads....

Isn't that tax on everything over 50,000 AUD ?

To follow on from my previous post, here is the final price, which is more expensive than the S 600 Maybach. Even at the S 65 level, carbon fiber trim is still a $5.5k option.

Pardon me for my ignorance but can I ask why is the base price of an s65 in australia(364k) so much higher than the msrp in US where it starts at(295k). Is there a tax within the base price or is it purely dealer's margin?

Purely dealer's margin, or MB Australia's margin. The same situation applies to all other car companies selling cars in Australia as well, due to the lack of any strong consumer protection and competition laws.

FYI - My S63 coupe has been in the garage now since the end of August.. after so many break downs... followed by Merc only wanting to replace the bottom half of the engine, which the garage had difficulty doing (and which would also means it's not really 'one man one engine' anymore)

Now they've finally decided to send an entirely new engine from AMG. It's November.... I can't believe the worlds best car has been my worst car..... ever. My 1985 Mazda 626 that stunk of fuel was more reliable, no massage seats though :ROFLMAO:

If they don't offer any form of compensation I'll be fairly disappointed.

That sucks. I'd be mad as well. Can't they buy it back from you?

A new "Ask Mercedes" service may help in a case like this in the future? It was just announced. :)

"Ask Mercedes" "How can I help you?" "Fix my S Coupe AMG engine!!!" "Certainly!"

This interactive assistant will be able to "answer the requests of our customers 24 hours a day and seven days a week", announces Sabine Scheunert. It will be launched in the United States, South Africa and Malaysia by the end of the year, then in Europe in 2018.
