S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupé (C217)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
Yes I've noticed that on our S-class as well Andre. The fixed portion of the trunk ceiling does not have any fabric covering. I know our W220 S and W211 E had it, but every Mercedes we've owned since hasn't. They've obviously found places to cut cost. Our S, and probably the S-coupe, also doesn't have any luggage hooks as far as I can see. Our 2010 E-class came with some very handy luggage hooks suspended from the fixed portion of the trunk ceiling.

Hello Guys,

Just had to post this in. I have done 74,000km on my car and this is a my first time to see kind of thing, has anyone experienced the same defect on the Turbo hoses?

Anyhow i got it to the dealer here in Dubai right now and they replaced in 10 mins.

Seems to be normal a defect around here.

I would bet that the extreme heat there kills hoses a lot faster. WOW though.

M

It should, but those hoses don't look normal either.

M

Those are intake hoses. Shame on MB for using such crap hoses for the application.

I think we need to know more here. Those hoses don't even look like what they normally use. If they are how could be that worn with such mileage? This should or would be a far more widespread problem.

M

luckly

Yes cause all their hot-climate testing should prevent that. If more people in the region are having this problem Mercedes has some defective hoses, cause I can't believe this would be the norm even a really hot climate. Benzes in Las Vegas here in the U.S. should have the same problem.

Wouldn't all that desert/death valley testing show this?

I had a similar issue with my 650. The first time it cracked, the dealer tried to flip it on me and said that when I filled it with motor oil, some dripped and burned through the plastic intake hose later on. The second time, 15,000mi later, another technician fessed up and said it's a common issue.

(should've taken a picture when it happened)

I know certain components are poorly engineered or corners are cut, so that they require replacement, particularly 65000km+ after owning about a dozen German cars.

Yikes.

And to think my 650i is now out of warranty. Gulp!

I have taken additional photos as you can see, its a some sort of fabric with steel wire rod inside to maintaine the dia of the hoses similarly in other hose applications.

I have added too our 2015 BMW X6 5.0 engine bay photo to compare, it has done 70k. However, I noticed that the layout and covers have far better protection of the engine and the Turbo intake hoses, were they are made of palstic or some sort, but you guys might know better.

Thanks

It will happen again since they replaced them with the same parts.
They probably told you this is normal.

Yikes. Those hoses are beat to hell. Must be the climate, heat and sand? I've never seen that before on any car.

Yikes indeed, ill have to keep any eye on them from now.
And im sure they are ment to be replaced regularly since each hoses costs $68 only !

Actually, they don't look solid enough. Just some metal rings wrapped around with some sort of fabric?

Anything turbocharged should come with proper PVC pipes of a couple of millimeters of thickness.

They will certainly brake again!
