X2 [Official] The BMW Concept X2

The BMW X2 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW since 2017. It is marketed as a sports activity coupé (SAC), it is considered a sportier and less practical alternative to the X1, as is the case with other even-numbered X models with its respective counterparts.
Looks amazing in this pic!!
Looks much better than x4

Love it! Great execution of the BMW face with these broad kidneys and the tailgate design is a sigh of relief for the current X6's bottom is a cry for help. Conclusion: Great times ahead for BMW-SAV's

Well done Adrian

Pretty spectacular, that grille will need some getting used to though.

The FWD proportions really suit the SUV shape. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Not on the X1 either.

I hope the rear spoiler is optional. Without it, I think the car can grown on me

The inverted grille looks a little bit unusual. But the X2 Concept in its entirety looks fantastic for me. I like it.
Maybe I'm wrong but the headlights seems very slim. One of the slimmest together with the VFL Concept and the Gran Lusso Concept. At least it's my impression.
It would be nice when this slimmer design in comparison to the X1 would find its way into the production. And not only for the X2 but for all new generations. :)

I agree! X1 and X2 are even my favourites of the current SAV:s.

When did this:

Become better than this?

They could have designed this vehicle so much better. I expect it didn't need a rear deck, but the roofline doesn't even curve. Its pointless - The X1 looks sportier, and better IMO.

The problem is that when you move down wheelbases to the compact class if you were to apply the typical X coupe roof to the X2 then it forgoes practicality but also the proportions will be tighter giving the car the look of an egg or similar to the Tesla Model X. The current X4 is somewhat restricted by its wheelbase but the G02 is slightly stretched within the wheelbase so the roofline will be extended. The X6 has the most advantage to be the more Coupe like because of the longer wheelbase and its longer roofline.

I knew you were going to say this.

Yes, I understand the wheelbase limitations, but a shape like this:

Something that genuinely lookes coupeish, not a raised 1er

Keeps practicality, sticks with the nomenclature (which has basically been ruined by the 2 monikers FWD models) and looks like a BMW.

The designs, like the grill and lights on the concept are very nice, but the shape of the vehicle to me doesn't work.

Don't like the inverted grille, it's so un-elegant although you might say being rough is intended given it's a "x" model. I find it quite strange why the X1 and x2 carries virtually none of the X design cites from its bigger brothers, or I guess it's the same with the 1 and 2 series.
BMW set a trend for SAC or coupe SUV's but unfortunately this is nothing like it. I do get the limitations due to its small size (and FWD proportions?) but this is just like any other car any other manufacturer could come up with, no originality to it. And actually what's good about this that I can't get with a 1er hatch? Just for the extra few cm of ground clearance?
And why does BMW bother to release these concepts anyway? To show the world what they "can" do, come production time things just revert to the reality which loses all of the cool features. I think the production headlights won't be so slim since I'm sure laser lights don't come as standard. Now imagine thicker lights, an inverted grille with black plastic kidney bars on a low end model - that would look ugly.
And let's not forget the X coupe.
Was at the museum and saw it IRL, amazing AF and they should go back and relook at what they did in 2001 compared to generic shapes they put into production today.

Its growing on me. Starting to quite like it

I'd take this over the Q2 and I guess that's the idea.

Not sure about over the GLA however. That's quite funky too.

Shouldn't they be called Lungs instead of kidneys now they're upside down?

Certainly fits with the cooling/air flow design? ;)

Upside-down kidney grille is an oooooooooooold idea. BMW design management has been rooting for that feature to be approved for a loooooong time. Remember this Huckfeldt's "X6" CGIs (from 2008) and even this mysterious BMW X-sedan unpremiered concept from 2009, or that leaked sketch of proposed BMW SuperSport Compact Coupe in 2009? ;)

I like the looks of this car, in my opinion it brings fresh design details to BMW SUV range, it is stylish and better looking than the X4 and possibly X6 as well
