i8 [Official] BMW i8 Future Interaction concept (i8 Spyder)

The BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid sports car developed by BMW. The i8 was part of BMW's electrified fleet and was marketed under the BMW i sub-brand. The production version of the BMW i8 was unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and was released in Germany in June 2014. Deliveries to retail customers in the U.S. began in August 2014. A roadster variant was launched in May 2018. Production ended in June 2020.
Its made of Carbon Fibre plus it does not look like a clown.

Thank you for the video.

It looks cool but I'm not convinced that touch screens and gesture controls are really that practical or safe in real world driving environments.

Any driver command that is a single step operation (change volume, radio station or climate control) needs a physical dedicated button. Commands requiring 2 or more steps (GPS, search music library, call contact, basically all of the menu options displayed on the panorama dash) could be more safely operated with voice control.

While driving, I use my Android's voice activated search/command feature (prompted by saying "ok google") to do all of the 2+ step commands shown in the BMW concept and it works beautifully. I rarely have to take my eyes off the road.

The touchpad fully invisibly integrated into the armrest and steering wheel is all sorts of cool! Thanks for the vid @Rolf

The big screen is 21" btw. lol

1. Seeing the video posted by Rolf I think how much the technology has progressed. Things like this multimedia, multi-interface cockpit were beyond science fiction even ten years ago.

2. It's very irritating - at least to me - how a car has grown to something more than a car, a gizmo if you may. Very few people care about driving these days. Sadly, the modern automotive industry is all about the gadget these days...

Well done BMW - a highly coherent and believable look at the future of motoring in the 21st century.

What's not to like?
