Model S [Official] Tesla Model S

The Tesla Model S is a battery-electric, four-door full-size car produced by the American automaker Tesla since 2012. The automaker's second vehicle and longest-produced model, the Model S has both received mixed reviews from critics and also been described as one of the most influential electric cars in the industry.

Basically all of the time gained seems to be from the more aggressive tires. Still a lot of coasting to protect brakes/battery and the battery is still dying by the end of the lap. Without that maybe another 5s would be possible. So yeah, getting faster, but still absolutely terrible as a track car - as expected.

It seemed to be restricted on it's top speed. It looked limited still nowhere near 200MPH down the long "straight". It's still got some time in it.

Damn STRAIGHT they did. But Porsche are the one manufacturer you don't mess with! LOL!

Is this lap time supposed to be impressive in 2023? By a car with over 1000 ps and god knows which tyres…?

what tires did they use? Definite specs of car and software? With BEVs, checking for stock software is crucial.

"I would be impressed, if I didn't knew the set of tires... Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R [285/305 mm]
For those who don't know, that tire has around the same profile as the "legendary" Michelin Sport Cup 2 R and even less treadwear."

I got this from somewhere and someone I trust, doesn't matter. The content however does. I haven't had the time to authenticate it, so can't say but it's a start nevertheless!

I wonder how many times did the guys above asked "what tires did they use" on any other car's Nurburgring lap time before...

Or if any other car had stock software/hardware/pilot had a massive dump in the morning done ... ON ANY OTHER CAR

It does NOT matter. It is just marketing. As ABSOLUTELY NOBODY takes their Taycan or Enzo or whatever car to the track (or maybe 1 out of 1000 ) , ANY track time/record is just marketing material.

And FYI : https://shop.tesla.com/product/model-s-plaid-track-package . Check the tires over there.

Why keep hating a car that is absolutely 0 relevant in 2023 other than marketing? Not even Tesla cares about them.

Let's just enjoy it as it is . If not , get over it. Simple as that...

Of course it is stupid marketing nonsense. But if they publish these stupid lap times, then they must expect reactions and negative feedback. And so must their fanboys. Thanks to all the negative reactions on this stupid Tesla Pain model, Tesla has understood it and now offers optional decent brakes (even if it should be mandatory on a 1000 ps car).

I see GCF is busy...

I think it would be impressive any year given Tesla's performance "division" is about 3 people and a miniscule budget compared to how many people in M or AMG or even Porsche GT? I believe they even used Youtuber Sebastian Vittel (not the F1 driver) to set the lap compared to the army of pro driver's and endless laps and tires others throw at ring times.

Wanna take a bet?

I will bet that not even 5% of all Plaid owners/buyers will NOT get the track package.

Why my bet on this? Because not even 5% put those stock brakes to the real limit....

Another reason? I know friends of mine , that have RSs and Ms with carbon brake disks , and they removed them , and put stock on their cars. Why? Because is DAMN EXPENSIVE ! For what would you need 20k brake disks? For a lap that you will probably never do? For a 1/4 mile race that you would probably never do?

Ceramic disks are pretty much a niche. Internet dudes want them , because it's internet.

In real life , they are pointless. And when they need replacement , your bank will suffer. A LOT.

I really hope that Tesla will put a stat at the end of the year , so that we could see how many did bought this option.

I dont doubt they used a youtuber, no pro driver would be so stupid to risk his life in a car like this around the ring.

What you are saying about CCBs makes no sense to me! They are perfect for performance cars, that are used only occasionally on track! Only if you are going to regularly track(ab)use a car CCBs can become a problem: Either if you happen to leave the track ending up in gravel and thereby destroying the expensive disks ... or really overheating the CCBs with a combination of wrong pads (also for ceramic disks there are special race brake pads) and driving on GP circuits ... if you really get your CCBs overheated and thereby damaged the discs it gets obviously expensive replacing the CCB discs ....
In any other environment the CCBs are superior and the discs are lifetime! Additional benefit: You always have a clean paint, while iron discs leave you with rust partcles all over the paint, which can be a pain in the a.. to get rid of if you are no carwash fanatic!

Ok, I live in germany, where we are able to run 250km/h plus on the AB. With heavy cars above 1800kg several harsh break manoevers from 250+ to 100 kill any iron disc/rotor (it is crooked afterwards) while CCBs can stand this stress!

And if you don't trust me about this topic, hear, what Max from TopNL is saying almost each time he is testing cars with highspeed runs on the Gerlan Autobahn ... e.g. here at 1:19 mark in the video:

Oh , ffs....Can you name ONE more country with higher highway speed than 140km/h?

Come on man....You can't just write all that post naming the ONLY country in the world that has those speeds , ONLY available on Autobahns , and ONLY available in SOME autobahns...

Edit: And I thought CCBs are a niche...I take my words back...Autobahns are the father of niche !

Hey , I ain't no YouTuber , but I drive that damn thing for almost 2 years , and I live to tell the story...

As my daily driver , I can assure you that is perfectly safe. Missing 200 or so HP , but still , kind of fast and ENOUGH braking for me...
