Model S [Official] Tesla Model S

The Tesla Model S is a battery-electric, four-door full-size car produced by the American automaker Tesla since 2012. The automaker's second vehicle and longest-produced model, the Model S has both received mixed reviews from critics and also been described as one of the most influential electric cars in the industry.
So , I have an order made for Model X Plaid . But I recently got an delay for the second half of the year. So , 1 month ago I took a decision: To buy a P version Model S for testing purposes.

So , now I am driving a 772little horses as my daily driver ( last daily driver was W222 S500 )

My personal thoughts on it :

This car is absolutely great. I just don't understand the hate around it .

ESPECIALLY fit&finish. I have absolutely no problems. Besides a squiky drivers seat (resolved with a little leather thing ; had the same issue on W222 since day 1 I got it )

Maybe I am lucky and got one in good condition.

The car feels great. And drives great. Brakes could have been better .

I drove it for almost one month now , so I can make myself an idea of how Tesla's work.

In 1 month ownership I already got one OTA update.

Tesla Autopilot ( not FSD ) is way better than Distronic Plus I had on W222 ( I use it daily ; used it daily in MB )

Sound system is no match for Burmester 3D I had , but it's okish.

Ride quality is very good. Body roll is minimal (of course ) .

Maybe I am not picky enough . But if is that right , is because I also had a lot of fit&finish issues with my last daily driver ( lots of misalignments ; interior trim noises ; LEDs burned ; gaskets ruined ; front driver door opening issues ; etc -> all for a car that costed 163.000euros )

PS: I am no Tesla fan boy. I just started hating major german manufacturers in the late years. Design is just stupid , and prices are going up for nothing better .

And some might say : " but Tesla looks bland "

Yes , it might look. But I am playing it safe , rather than buy iX or EQS , who are just horrific .

And that Ludicrous mode is just...Great

PS2: I am a german car daily driver for the last 15years . This is the first time in 15 years that I changed the manufacturer's country to US (I had a Ford 15years ago)

So , for some idiot (s) I would not like to name around here , I am no Tesla fan boy , again....

My admittedly limited experience with Teslas has shown me that fit and finish can be an issue-but it's not a consistent annoyance. It's been a few years, but the last Tesla S that I was seated in (was it 2015 or there 'roundabouts ?) left the impression of solidity and generally sound workmanship. More recent brief encounters with Model 3s' left me noticing some uneven shutlines and poorly applied paint. Not in all cases though. Interior-wise, the Model 3 always appeared solid, albeit "sterile". I recently had a brief "look and see" encounter with the new Model Y. It appeared solid as a rock and generally well-finished.

Relax ;)
Thanks for the thorough write up. Informative. All the best with it and drive safe with that insane power.

What are your thoughts of the UI, and what did you notice from the OTA update? Are you missing buttons?

Glad your Model S was screwed together properly. I’ve seen enough Plaids even with misaligned dashboards and other things to say you’re a lucky person. Enjoy!
US based?

Also , Ferrari and other have quality issues... This are the times that we live in...

Aren't Model S' produced/assembled exclusively in the U.S. ?
Produced/assembled yes

But , it might be a "conspiracy" that those produced for outside US might have a better quality.

And I say that , because I studied Model S for some time. In November/December I've been twice in Dubai and drove in different Model S , and all had good quality inside ( as far as I saw)

Before I bought this Model S, I've seen other models (I've bought it from Belgium ) , and all looked fine.

Plaids , as far as I know, are not available in EU right now. Only imported. Some say , so that they can fix the "first batch issues" , others say to keep US first served .

Quote from my email update on Plaid : " We currently estimate that deliveries outside of North America will begin in the second half of 2022. "

Who knows...

Yes I am. Other brands have quality issues but I had never seen anything like what I witnessed in person on a car at this price point. The car is still quite remarkable in other areas though so I understand the appeal fully.

Well , you might get surprised... 7:34

Very quick acceleration but he mentioned that the car's traction/stability control intervene way too much during cornering. Any over/understeering makes the car lose power for a a few seconds.
During the fast lap he had a brake temperature warning.

He attributed that to the fact that it is designed to protect the occupants rather than sporty driving.
