Phantom [Official] Rolls-Royce Phantom (VIII)

Rolls-Royce has used the Phantom name on full-sized luxury cars and limousines since 1925, making it the longest used car model nameplate in automotive history. In the 20th century, the Rolls-Royce Phantom was a very low volume, hand-built limousine, which in its first four generations was custom coachbuilt to the customer's requests, and sometimes extravagant desires. Whilst automobile manufacturing over time became more mechanised and prolific, and vehicles from other manufacturers could be built in greater numbers and at lower prices, the Phantoms remained hand-built, and production of individual cars only began once the order was placed. The use of the name "Phantom" is a long tradition of naming Rolls-Royce models after ghosts or spirits.
It's the previous generation. The big giveaway is that, on the previous generation, the wheel arches are flared and nearly touch the side character line, which you can see pretty clearly in the picture. Additionally, the chrome window trim around the C-Piller is layered/multi part. On the Phantom VIII, that chrome trim is a single piece, and the whe...

Trump might have even given his old Phantom in return for some compromise in the nuclear talks, who knows? :p

Software. They can lock you out of certain functions and remotely wipe software from the car.

That's what Tesla did for all the owners fleeing the Florida hurricanes a few years ago, they unlocked the batteries so people could charge there cars to the max, after the crisis was over they locked the batteries again.

Saw this very car (this is from the net, not my picture) near Antwerp the other day....NOTHING matches its presence on the road...Where elegance and sophistication meets opulence...
I know some are going to roast me for saying this; and I have always been a huge fan of sportier cars/supercars; but if I had the resources to do so, I could somewhat see myself go for one of these than, say, an 812 Superfast or an Aventador (even though it's basically apples and oranges)....Perhaps I'm getting old?

The exterior of the MarkVIII Phantom has been penned by Pavle Trpinac who also penned the exteriors of Wraith and Dawn. (y)
Did he create the Phantom 8? And Dawn too? Are you sure? I know this designer only as the creator of Wraith. As far as I know, Phantom was created by a design team led by Taylor. And Alex Innes sketched the exterior of Dawn. In general, I'm not sure who created the original design proposal for the car. With the previous Phantom it was clear.

Who has a new Rolls-Royce Phantom in the garage, has previously decided against countless ordinary cars. The luxury saloon from Goodwood stands for the desire for exclusivity and extravagance and is a gift to itself for its customers - an automotive statement that makes economic success visible and tangible.

In a current short film Rolls-Royce celebrates the special role of the Phantom, whose drivers and drivers do not fit in a classic cliché. For the short film, the English star photographer Rankin and Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie engaged to put the phantom in the best possible scene.

Rankin deliberately avoids a classic staging with conventional luxury motifs: his phantom short film lives off small provocations and shows the lives of young phantom customers, for whom driving in sedans is also an escape from the stress of everyday life.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös (CEO Rolls-Royce Motor Cars): "The Phantom limousine, with extended wheelbase and as a phantom, reflects two different groups of customers. The former are attracted by the formality of the ultimate sedan with chauffeur, while the latter are attracted by the exceptional driving experience of the Phantom.Rankin's playful and witty short film captures the phantom's younger and daring charisma and reveals a refreshing disrespect for the expected codes of automotive luxury. "

Rankin: "Rolls-Royce is the ultimate British brand. Number one of one. Eight years ago I had the opportunity to drive Phantom when I was working on the centenary of 'The Spirit of Ecstasy'. It was the best driving experience of my life. Not only was it intoxicating, it also made me feel like a rebel and part of that iconic story. I realized that for a reason, Rolls-Royce is the ultimate brand. The Phantom has that attitude, this exciting and effortless wild side that you can enjoy from the moment you start the engine.
In my movie with Gwen, I wanted to express this unique sensation. I wanted everyone to know exactly why Rolls-Royce are the best of the best and why the Phantom is the icon. Everyone should try it. "

Gwendoline Christie: "The Rolls-Royce Phantom is a car of rare timelessness. He embodies craftsmanship excellence and modern luxury. The collaboration with the legendary photographer Rankin and his team was fun! They naturally respect the cult status of this automobile and have vividly translated it into playful subversion, power and humor. It's a real pleasure to be part of the Rolls-Royce
