Porsche did a great job with this facelift. Looks absolutely great. And the colour combination of the green convertible is absolutey insane!!

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

Well, what to say?

I don't like the changes of the exterior.

The front is more powerful, but too similar to the Cayman. Hate this fact.
The rear, well... the fancy lights don't suit the clean look of the car. Maybe I'll get used to them...The exhausts are better integrated, though.

On the inside, the new center console is an enormous improvement over the messy cheap-looking piece of painted plastic in the Mk I.

The motors: power improvements sound great. Let's see the noise, refinment and characteristics. Redline's higher, that's great. Big improvement: now the sport suspension is PASM. Important because you only can have the LSD with the sport suspension (at least it was so in the MkI) and I would never buy a 911 without LSD.

PDK: I couldn't care less. The one that desperately needs it is the Turbo. But I don't like these gearboxes, personally.

So overall... enormous disappointment. I hope I'll change my mind...

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

Wow the Carrera S can go 302 km/h!!! Love the FL, except that shity steering wheel...
EDIT: Carrera S with PDK can do 0 to 100 km/h in 4,3 s!!! As fast as a GT3...

:t-cheers:

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

The rear lights just doesn't go that well IMO,otherwise i love the car:D

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

One of ugliest steering wheels in a German car. *** where they thinking. Not a big fan of the new nose either. Praying the GT3 doesn't get the same nose job or the steering.

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

I like it all. And, based on the pictures we've been seeing for months now, no surprise at all.

The front will most certainly look more potent in the flesh - entry level 911's don't photograph as well as they look in the metal.

With this big new Porsche dealership on Witkoppen, 10-15 Porsches must drive past me every day now. Let alone all that hardware staring at me from the showroom floor. [Imagine seeing a CGT twice a day!]

So this is a great, subtle, evolution of the clean silhouette that is unmistakably Porsche 911. Long may it live because there's absolutely nothing like it. Therein lies the allure. And that's what drives me to one day owning a Porsche; the fact that it is instantly recognisable as being nothing other than the timeless, classic sportscar.

A white Carrera S (manual of course) with Sport Chrono pack will be all the car I ever need. (Until that new GT3 comes along of course...)

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII

Overall, nothing exciting or surprising. I prefer the new rear end. The new front end is a bit soft, and a bit messy, it doesn't look newer than the pre-facelift version. The shape of those parking lights or LED is just too soft and rounded, and why can't Porsche combine the LED daylight running lights with LED indicators? The current layout of having the normal indicators on top of the LED lights is a bit messy, why can't Porsche have a slim strip of LED for both daylight running lights and side indicators as well?

So I'm back to work and have over the latest hours formed my opinion.

Rear lights: Don't like they much, too angular and don't blend in with the rest of the car, not digging the graphics much at all. I will have to digest the lights over time.

Front end: Absolutely love it, very classic and will attract eyes when the LEDs are on. Superb job Porsche!

Interior: Love the revised center console but my biggest question is, why buttons instead of paddles?? This will make purists feel more alienated not wanting to jump on the double clutch wagon because of buttons. I don't really get what Porsche wanted to acheive here.

Overall: The performance enhancements are astounding. most attractive of them all is the Carrera which is dead quick doing 0-100km/h just 4.7 seconds, that's just as fast as the facelifted AMV8 but for 30% less money. Anyone saving up to buy a 911 in the next coming month will not even think about looking at alternatives because the Carrera S is one hell of a deal.
