Newest news from an unidentified but reliable source
McLaren cancelled/will not show up to the all out Duell between the 918 and P1 that was supposed to take place in McLaren's own backyard (the top gear track) next month and air on top gear uk.
Porsche is laughing: "What's up McLaren? Why not bang it out same day same track same drivers?"
Maybe McLaren is not too happy about the performance of their P1 yet (see autocar test and the claimed 6 minute something lap at the ring that was never published or verified).
Sorry I'm just speculating. Because the motortrend test had excellent numbers for the P1 and McLaren is an excellent manufacturer.
Only works with smartphone and tablet as far as I know...Link?

McLaren/JLR - arrogant, pseudo engineering, at base cowboy outfits, getting by on lies peddled by their 'in on it' bent media chums.
Lying - easy, for a while: claimed 'Ring lap times, not a cynically conceived glorified 12C at five times the price, '911-Killer', '400 kilo weight loss' ... etc., until you eventually get found out.
Doing - takes a culture that supports and values the making of things, above the 'make a fast buck by ripping some mug off' mentality.
There's nothing new in all this - the ten commandments - thou shalt not lie - ancient Greek hubris, the new testament, Shakespeare, Marlowe, Goethe, Dickens etc., all warn against choosing the wrong path, giving into temptation, for short-lived gain, but ultimate damnation.
And before someone chimes in with 'but McLaren are preeminent in Formula One, and so their engineering must be excellent', remember all McLaren had to beat in those glory years was basically Ferrari and one or two privateers like Williams.
Now that Mercedes-Benz are back in F1 as a full works team, they are already wiping the floor, just as they did pre-war, and in the mid 50s. If VAG allowed VW, Porsche or Audi back in to F1, you'd be back to the German domination of GP racing like before the war.
McLaren are no match for an outfit like Mercedes-Benz when it put its mind to 100% commitment to F1, and its road sports car division is basically just one rung up from a TVR-like outfit, again absolutely no match for a Mercedes-AMG operation, BMW M one, Ferrari or even Audi's Lambo. They've been found out. Not before bloody time, with their and their fanboys' insufferable arrogance.
Lovely pics of this car, it is so beautiful, love this silver colour, very rich owner and lucky person!!!!So the gray 918 I spotted at the dealer (post 342) has been sold, and this is what it looks like in the wild:
