Huayra [Official] Pagani Huayra

The Pagani Huayra, named after the Quechua god of wind, Huayra-tata, is the successor to the Pagani Zonda.

2016 Pagani Huayra SE (not confirmed) spy photo / Automedia

Production to be capped at 20 cars
Our spies have sent us an interesting set of images which could depict the Pagani Huayra SE (Special Edition).

The prototype was fully covered in camouflage, but it's easy to notice it had green brake calipers, a front splitter likely made from carbon fiber while the rear end hosted what appears to be a slightly different bumper. Interestingly, there's a QR code on the right door which we checked out and it lead us to a page on Pagani's official website showing a trio of short clips with a camouflaged prototype.

According to the latest gossip, only 20 units will ever be made and each will carry a jaw-dropping €2.5 million price tag. The Pagani Huayra SE (name not confirmed), will apparently get a detachable special body kit optimized for the track along with what will likely be a weight loss and some extra muscle for the AMG V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine which in the "regular" Huayra pumps out 730 PS (537 kW) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.

Besides a hardcore Huayra, Pagani is also working on a roadster version set to come out most likely in 2016.

So.....Just detachable body kit and weight loss and some additional bhp.....Anything else to justify the DOUBLING of the price tag?

Make no mistake, the Huayra is wonderful, but given the choice, I wouls opt for an older, second hand Zonda F over an Huayra myself (not that I would complain if I had an Huayra, of course ;))

What is going on with that horrible carbon/white and red exterior of the Huayra?

thats the king, us spec car, what can i say the owner wanted it like that..go figure

Not much love for the Gghhwaaiiieeerah these days. Whilst the Zonda remains a celebrated, timeless classic - the newer model just doesn't seem to be garnering the same level of interest. Pity.

I love the Pagani story ....it's great to see somebody achieve their wildest dream. These cars are really special.

:) however, you can pretty much have anything you want, so it's a matter of personal taste.

Still one of my favorite sports cars of the modern era, the Pagani Zonda and Huayra. Although they ultimately not the fastest cars in the world, there exquisite looks, handcrafted jewel like interior and their owners passion make them irresistible.

I wonder what was Horacio's reaction when the customer requested this color scheme.
I was at the factory at the start of the year, Horacio does not make a car that is not somewhat asthetically pleasing to him, they have turned down requests from customers i was told. But as you can see pretty wild things are still possible.

What do you base this non love on? its sold out and it has nothing BUT positive reviews. But then again the Zonda was a different monster a classic car, with the NA engine and much more performance orientated.

The Zonda was the fastest in its day, it was faster than CGT and Enzo.
And ive been saying this since day one, when the Huayra story ends it will be faster than the 918, P1 and Laferrari. Wait and see. This is just the start, the Huayra we have seen thus far is like the Zonda C12, the first one from 1999 it had under 500hp and the last road legal ones have 760hp and are true monsters, and thats from a NA engine. With this TT V12 they are starting at 730hp i expect it to reach around or above 1000hp by the end of its run.

I totally agree with you, I also believe the Huayra will advance in power and speed, that TT V12 has so much potential and combined with the light weight of the Huayra body will make it a potentially quicker car than the 3 mentioned HyperCars.

I do wonder how much further can they push that TT V12, the basic design is about 15 years old now? Does it still use the 3 value twin spark design or did AMG design a unique cylinder head for the Huayra?

Huayra sucks on all fronts. Fugly looks to boot.

Honda on the other hand....oh la la......

I've seen the car in person, in Manhattan of all places... its not as offensively bad as looks in pics but still quite odd. The owner is flamboyant and loves social media attention

The worst Huayra example, imo, is also local for non-driving investment purposes.

I don't think there's so much as "love lost" with the Huayra and Pagani as it has been somewhat overshadowed by the trio of hybrid hypercars from the more established marques. It's still a rather impressive bit of bespoke kit and Horacio's obsessive attention to details is just the best. As @SDNR as said, I am just impressed somebody is able to produce something that pretty darn fantastical. I would love to have a cappucino with the man and pick his brain.

Personally, I prefer the more purposeful look of the Zonda over the more refined and glitzy look of the Huayra.

As for the engine design, my memory's not the greatest these days but I think I asked Wolfgang if they are still using the 3-valve/cyl design, and I think he said yes. But I'll defer to @Wolfgang for something more definitive.
