TUNING FOR MERCEDES-BENZ E-CLASS W/S 214

The W/S214 E-Class is already such a handsome car. And that little dash of subtle BRABUS spice accentuates its attractiveness. Especially the S214 estate is gorgeous. Being just my personal subjective opinion, I find it the most attractive upper executive class estate currently available. I'm eager to see what Audi presents in the form of the serial production version of the upcoming A7 Avant. Yes, the A7 and NOT the A6 Avant etron. So far, the A6 etron prototypes are looking very ungainly.

The W214 is OK looking, I still don’t get that front design. In term of looks it has no chance against the good old handsome A6 Avant.
I agree that the A7 Avant will destroy that clean aesthetics similar to the messy 5er Touring.

Yes, I agree that the C8 A6 sedan and Avant are examples of Audis most compelling designs PERIOD. Sadly, offerings following the 2018 presentation of the C8 seem to be less appealing.

Mercedes Australia has continued their strategy for ridiculous price gouging.

The W213 E 300 cost $118 k AUD back in 2021, now the W214 E 300 starts at $140 k AUD . (hyper screen is standard for launch spec cars)

The air suspension pack is only available when you select the optional bundle with rear wheel steering, digital headlights etc for $7,230 AUD plus taxes.

So the W214 E 300 will cost $150k AUD if you want to include air suspension and advance features.

$150k AUD for a mid size luxury car with a 2.0L 4 Cylinder engine only.

At this price range, I expect the E 350 model at the minimal (basically the same engine as the E 300 but with EQ boost)

For comparison, we paid $150k for our E 450 , air suspension and napper leather seats were standard.

Interestingly, archrivals BMW and Mercedes share the 21-inch tires the E uses—the sidewalls have both BMW's star and Mercedes's MO markings. Who wore them better? Definitely the Benz, which outcorners and outbrakes the BMW 530i xDrive—it also stops on par with the Nissan Z NISMO—and is quieter at highway cruising speeds. The E-class also steers and rides better, and it exhibits a surprisingly neutral cornering attitude for a large luxury sedan. Whether comparing E350 to 530i or E450 to 540i, the BMWs are slightly quicker and lighter, and yet the Benzes have the edge in chassis performance and driving dynamics.

This seems to be the best E-class in most respects since the W211. Probably better than the W211 too in most respects other than aspects of finish and design which is subjective.

And it's finally got some of the S-class's gravitas in it's front end and a touch in the rear.

Do we know when the test drive embargoes are lifting?

Heck to be honest, when are there going to be more Mercedes press-cars released in general. There've been the curated test drives being held by Merc, but we've not seen any proper press loaners for any recent Mercs.

E class, GT63 seems to be doing the rounds in the UK now, but otherwise has had not much testing, CLE53 and so on.

The new E53 looks quite impressive on the track and the nice thing it has a drift feature like the previous E63 S. 0-100 in 3.8sec timed on the Mercedes dash is more than fast enough.

3.8 is pretty quick considering the size and weight.
