I don't understand how Mercedes can design cars like this, and then also make the EQ-series and the new CLA.
How is this all coming out of the same company?
Because when you develope and design an ICE vehicle for example, you can dictate your suppliers and partners, what they have to contribute towards your endprouct. They are reliant towards you as the car manufacturers. From top to down.

When you develop and design an BEV it is the total opposite. You are way more depending on your suppliers, because they dicate(limit) you in your actions. From down to top.

You can see this with the CLA EV and the next GLC EV for example: The CLA has to carry a 85 kWh battery pack, which can bloat up a "smaller" car way more, than a "larger" vehicle like the next GLC with the same battery pack.

I have learned it from a interview in a German newspaper that calls itself "Das Parlament". The dude, Stefan Bratzel or whatever his name was, said this.

That's a truly silly way of thinking about it. Everything is a choice, and Mercedes can bring the design of things in house if they wanted to. They've already started doing that with the motors.

Battery pack optimization, whether it is in house or not, is still relatively early on in its journey. That's the end of it and yes that causes complications with vehicle design.

The new is is a masterstroke in elegant subtlety with a dash of ceremony. It finally has the presence befitting it's place in the lineup.
The side profile and rear are close to perfect, but the front end is letdown by the black plastic on the grill. And on the exclusive line, the MB ornament is way too far back. The gap between the emblem and grill doesn't look right.

Strange, that these days many front-ends (grille) are so overleaping (A6, E, CLA).
With E, they wanted to underline the chrome frame which is in theory possible in black; similar to the chrome frame of windows in S-Class, thinner could help ?
