I did not see that award coming. I'm seeing more and more of them on the road and I don't think the C, E and S have all looked this good in a long time, through a few generations. This E is so polished and classy. I think you have to back to the W211 to find as good a looking E-Class.

This is interesting!!
Mercedes doesn't break out the number for bodystyle, but I do remember reading years ago that MBUSA sells about 500-1000 E Wagons a year, but this was while ago. I do know that all the dealers in the area have one on their lots.

Thanks. I should have perhaps more clearly stated that I was asking about the All Terrain variant of the S214. The "standard" lower ride height wagons sell very well here in their home market. But I have yet to see an All Terrain version on the roads.
That is quite a good review. Surprising that the E200 has the very cheap looking rear vents without any AC controls. The rest of the cabin looks great.
Us fans of German cars are in for a rough period over the next few years when it comes to interior quality. This is the most disgustingly cheap rear air vent and storage section that I have ever seen on a car. I would expect this on a poverty spec Camry or a VW Jetta for the south American market but not on a €70-80k premium car. Shocking cost cutting.
The M5 will beat it performance wise who but wants to be flogging around a baby elephant.
The E53 has better electric only range and probably more suited as a daily partner.
It is across the board now with German so called "premium" brands. This is the most disgustingly cheap rear air vent and storage section that I have ever seen on a car. They aren't shopping for an M5 either.People who want electric range sure as hell aren't shopping for an E class.
What are the gaping spaces for? Teenagers at the back to rest one foot?It is across the board now with German so called "premium" brands.
The rear vents on the W214 E class and new BMW X3 must be in competition with each other for winner of the prize for the cheapest looking rear vent.
We can expect even lower quality interior materials been used on German cars in the upcoming years as they battle to reduce their costs.

The 5 series rear vent looks a little better but still appears cheap looking.

Optional instrument clusters. They just use them for extra storage if the option box isn't ticked. What are the gaping spaces for? Teenagers at the back to rest one foot?
