^ A dull and meaningless dashboard and interior. I just don’t get why some people are getting almost an orgasm when they talk about this interior. By the way, to me it looks dated already.
The cashmere-wool seats are wonderful.

Yes, but judging my grandma's i7 I would not option those seats if you carry people regularly. My grandparents don't really clean their cars very often in their old age but I will say wow their seats got dirty quick. They take friends to dinner, church, and my grandma has friends she plays bridge with so we're not talking messy kids here. The seats cleaned up perfectly but it required heavy application of cleaning products.

It's a shame I forgot to take a picture before it got detailed.

"I just don't get"

I mean, is it that hard to grasp people have different taste than your grandpa style?

Seriously, or are you just trolling? Which I suspect is what's going on at this point.....

Time to recycle this meme again.

Dear Mick . ( and now I am talking for myself ) As time goes on , I feel the need to have odd and quirky cars. The new 7 is different.

At least , exterior wise is like nothing you see on the streets.

Beautiful ? Beauty is subjective...

And the interior , if you ever looked in real life at one , you would see that the ambient lights "hit different" than others.

Just like W222 was the first car that made the interior of the car look hot due to that ambient light , G70 is wonderful to see at night. "New"

And a few other quirks...

W223 looks dated , IMO. I mean , not really dated , but rather "old" . More like an evolution , rather than a revolution from W222. Rear is ugly. Front is dull. MB played it too safe with W223. A design language that started in 2005 with W221. 18 years have passed. We should move forward...

But again, this are my own thoughts. I am getting older and I want to see different things. Maybe I am not the only one that thinks like that...

No criticizing. Just an observation. You're "tone" is changing.
I see that differently.
Both major brands are criticized by me, sometimes mild and sometimes a bit harsher. This time it was on the harsh side. It’s never my goal to troll. This may come as a surprise, but I do love BMW. I’ve owned three brand new ones and I’ve had a poster of a BMW 5 (E34) hanging on my bedroom wall.
Me being a bit on the harsh side with my posts regarding the new 7er, and 5er, is because I’m utterly disappointed by what’s become of BMW.

My waning appreciation for the G70’s looks notwithstanding, I have only one minor issue with the interior but, for the rest of it, that cabin is very hard to fault in terms of quality.

A slightly sad configuration of everything especially the interior

But you will come round in 2043?
:p

Sacré bleu! An i7 riding better than an S class...and in the UK?!? Jokes aside, I guess all that 'heavy' tech comes in handy when your luxo barge weighs in excess of 2 ½ tons.

Battle of the barges: BMW i7 vs Mercedes-Benz S-Class

And the tester makes a good point for me, which I hadn't really thought through:

"Once beyond buttons though, you’re forced to interact with the giant touchscreen. You’ll get lost in menus and options. The Mercedes is more navigable, has more logical shortcuts but still, too much eyes off road time. This is anti-luxury. The German brands, unlike Rolls and Bentley, haven’t learned that the ‘agony of choice’ is literal.

The argument both brands make is that we must now talk to our cars, must use Siri and ‘Hey Mercedes’. So for two weeks with these cars, I did. They get it right seven times out of 10. The other three make you boil with irritation. But also this: these cars are for the chauffeur driven. The chauffeur cannot chat to the car if he has a client in the back. It’s the same with family cars: how long do you think it’ll take a five-year-old to pick up on the catchphrase and cause havoc? Even travelling solo, who wants to interrupt the radio or music to ask the car to do something you should be able to do yourself in less than half the time?"

I have to be honest, I don't find either idrive 8 or MBUX very hard to deal with after you've lived with them for a significant period of time. German cars have always had a steep learning curve.

Bmw has prooven they are the most versatile brand from the Mass mftrs out of the Germans.
Luxury
Tech
Design
DRIVING DYNAMICS

Since the G11...they've now toppled the S-Class seat.

Man, the M Sport bumper is the best in the trade. Majority of the S and RR (box suv) owners will be scratching their heads I think!
Hahahahaha
