Why I Love the New BMW 7 Series

Quote: "Although I’m not particularly enamored with modern car designs, I must admit that when someone gets it right, they really hit the mark. Previous iterations of the 7 Series have come close, so very close, to reaching the top echelon where the S-Class sits, but they never quite made it. However, this latest rendition? The doormen at the Hotel Byblos will be falling over themselves. Whether you like it or not, the new 7 Series is much more than just a large BMW."

NO, it is one of the cars that has been praised the most in recent times by each and every one of those who tested it for what it is as a car, so write what you can think of to downgrade it does not make it true, facts, no stories, remember

*And yes, as awesome as it is as a car, it's also the ultimate lounge
Yes, its one of the ugliest cars BMW has ever made and it's become nothing more than a barge that doesn't even resemble what the brand used to stand for, but hey I get it. Tell yourself whatever you need here. It's amazing to me that how the press is so right when it fits your narrative. Delusional. A turd with roundel on it. The only real question is which is worse the ugly 5 or the ugly 7.

What do we think about the glass roof? The 7 features a glass roof, that can’t be opened. It offers not the benefit of letting fresh air into the cabin, that a retractable glass roof does. The down side of a glass roof however, heating up the cabin, one has to live with.
BMW probably made it non-retractable because of the TV screen in the back. They should have offered a retractable one as an option for those who don’t want that TV screen. Even better yet, no glass roof at all as standard, an option of a retractable glass roof and for the ones who ordered the TV, the fixed glass roof.

Perhaps it's the same type of fixed glass used on the Taycan? Extremely heat reflective even in a climate such as Australia.

That would be interesting to know, if BMW went the extra mile. I have no experience over a longer period of time with a Taycan and the glass roof you mentioned. As far as I know, no glass at all is the best option to prevent heating up.
To me a term like luxury in combination with cars is also defined by choice. I want to have choice between a glass roof (retractable and/or fixed) and no glass roof at all. Just can't stand it when something is forced upon me. Like in this case a fixed glass roof.

I found the Taycan's roof very effective in its ability to keep heat out of the cabin as well as uncomfortable glare. You would assume significant testing would have been done to ensure comfortable cabin conditions are maintained even in hot climates such as the Middle East and Australia.

But I agree with you, not being able to operate the roof reduces its appeal.

The first one I saw like this was a Peugeot 206 more than 20 years ago, seeing it was like opening the pulp fiction suitcase and although I'm a fan of opening roof, but seeing a full glass roof due to the characteristics of the climate here, it's also perfect, I'll tell you. In winter each ray of sun is worth gold, and in summer it is not so hard either and the cover can always be moved, although I repeat I understand the pleasure of being able to open it as well.

Is there going to be an Alpina version of the BMW 7 Series G70?

No. The G12 has been the last as we know ALPINA brand these days.

Likely, towards 2026 - 2027, the G70 should receive the ALPINA treatment (as rumored earlier), but then it will mostly be the case of an uber-luxury equipment line (just as in the case of M Sport or M Performance), given the fact that after 2025, BMW will be fully in charge of the division. Moreso similar to MAYBACH for Mercedes-Benz.

Bmw has prooven they are the most versatile brand from the Mass mftrs out of the Germans.

DRIVING DYNAMICS

Since the G11...they've now toppled the S-Class seat.

Man, the M Sport bumper is the best in the trade. Majority of the S and RR (box suv) owners will be scratching their heads I think!

I also need some of what you're smoking. Seems to disconnect you very well from reality.
