The database seems to confirm this is the prototype of M70 xDrive. We can also slightly see the exclusive alloys. This looks like the M Performance Packet and not the Excellence Packet. The top specification 7’s usually arrive a year after initial introduction. With viewings underway initial debut should not be too long.

No exclusive alloys, nothing new here. In fact, the wheel model is an already existing one - the one below.

They seem to be spoked rather than crossed at the edges. Then again we are not seeing the full design. It’s plate has it licensed as an M70.

TBH, not at all - they are clearly crossed identically to the wheels I pointed out. This is just a bloody prototype, there’s no need to flash so-called exclusive alloys.

Not even the iX M60 has come up with all-new alloys when launched - other than the ///M logo and black finish, they are identical to the “standard” wheels. And the ///M alloys on the M760e are in fact just a rebaged version of the BMW Individual aerodynamic wheels following the same recipe as for the iX M60.

So clearly nothing new and nothing close to the “special/exclusive/hardcore” hype that’s trying to be artificially created around the i7 M70. In fact, I don’t expect it to be anything more than a purely electric M760e.

BMW has a hot hand. Lots of performance, luxury on vivid display and always in the news, whether you view it favorably or not. Looking at some videos of the XM, it would be my controversial BMW of choice.

I agree, it is noticeable, I would call it putting a little more passion and effort over ambition, which is when things generally turn out much better.

And it goes on..now you have to understand in order to appreciate an ugly car. When you have say bullshit like "you don't understand" or that you find something "impressive" (but not pretty) you have failed. Beautiful cars require no special understanding. No explanation, coercion, or any other BS is needed. When you have to explain styling, especially on a luxury sedan - you and the design have failed.

M

He understood why it is a luxury benchmark.
The car does not need any explanation, nor does it ask for permission, that is the best of it, it is what it should be.
Not everything is black and white.

It's BS. What is there to understand? If the car is what you say it is, there is nothing to "understand". It would be apparent from the start. Who needs to understand why a luxury car is luxury car or a benchmark? It's a given if the car is what it's maker says it is. Then for you to say everything is not black and white again hints that some deeper understanding is needed because it isn't that simple. It's called talking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time. The desperation to craft some type of higher level understanding for this ugly monstrosity is just plain sad. If they had built a better looking car this conversation wouldn't even be happening.

M

There are nuances, some more elegant, others more impressive, others more conservative, for taste there are colors, if there was nothing to understand or discuss about beautiful or ugly cars, there would not be 200 pages of the W223, where many say they prefer the W222, what need to explain about the A8? nothing, do you know why? because nobody cares and it's not an ugly car.
He explains why he likes the car, you don't explain why you don't like it, you just say it's ugly and it's fine, that's what you think.
In my case I like it a lot, and the market will decide.

You understand that it's ugly, Rory understands that it's not, it's different points of view, it's intentionally polarizing
Once the W222 was imposed as the benchmark, the W223 only had to evolve, so hearing that the G70 is taken as a benchmark by so many testers is appreciable.

You’re not saying anything. It’s just rambling nonsense. No there isn’t anything to understand. I didn’t say there was nothing to discuss. Discussing and understanding are two very different things. Some find the car ugly. Get over it. Preferring the W222 to the W223 is not having to understand anything. It’s an irrelevant to all the excuses and nonsensical bs being spun here to put this whale over. Like some journalist liking this car puts him on a higher level of thinking or “understanding”. It’s total bullshit.

M

.The car is perfectly clear to me and to most without any explanation.
