I asked you, because he would give me some absurd answer. Anyway, it's grotesque to see a lean woman behind the wheel of this car.
I think it's sexy
Many thanks for the short review @Centurion, much appreciated.

It's like mk1 Z4. Strong and unusual combination of lines.
Thank's for the clarity of the summary of your experience, very illustrativeHere's my mini review of driving the i7
Car Spec
Car belongs to BMW UK. Dealer demos have not been delivered and neither have customer cars in the UK
I7 xDrive60
21 inch alloys
B&O sound system
No rear wheel steer
Electric doors
TLR: Too long; didn't read",
Forget the V8. This is the drivetrain to choose. The i7 has an incredibly well calibrated power delivery. It’s an EV but drives like a BMW and a luxury barge - a difficult balance to get right. Full torque and power don’t make themselves known unless you deliberately demand cliche ‘EV shove in the back’-performance.
Driving it leaves little to be desired. If I was to nitpick, it would be fun if the comfort steering was even lighter to make the car feel even more Rolls Royce like.
If your definition of luxury is bold geometric design and maximum tech, then the i7 for you. However if you want a cabin that’s serene and greater user friendliness then there are better alternatives - possibly even within the BMW range.
GOOD
Design: An EV that doesn’t look like an EV. From the interior or exterior you can’t tell that this 3 box sedan is not an EV.
Drivetrain: Driving the car is pure ease. Press the throttle and it glides with minimal weight transfer. No torque build up, deadzone or boost. Neither does it have spikey torque delivery or feel lethargic like some ICE cars do in comfort mode. It’s like driving in a vacuum. Power is never under or overwhelming - it’s just whelming, making the car relaxing to drive.
The calibration of the drivetrain and pedal travel are perfect. “Inconvenience” is only experienced when lift of the gas pedal and regenerative braking is engaged. It’s not aggressive but I wish it could be switched on for an even more relaxing drive.
Legroom: Rear legroom is majestic and at 180cm tall I can comfortably sit in the back with my legs extended. In the backseat, the distance to the driver is nearly equivalent to 2 rows in an aircraft. It's a BIIIIIG boy car.
Quality: Interior quality is as good as it gets for a series production Germany car. It is also aided by minimal switchgear and functions - confining your interactions to the steering wheel and screen. The only car that firmly edges it below a Bentley and RR, is the Lexus LC which is thoroughly exquisite no matter where you put your fingers.
Handling: In comfort mode it aims to be a relaxing cruiser rather than an overgrown 3-Series. However the car is not lethargic or lazy and. It feels confident without edging too much towards athletic.
Interaction Bar/Ambient lighting: When you change drive mode, not only do the colours in the screen change but so does the light bar. The effect is convincing and mood changing. What makes it one of the best implementations of ambient lighting is that the interaction bar has diffused lighting, fades colours into one another and can display more than one colour at once.
Silence: Powered tailgate operation is soft and completely silent compared with any that I have previously experienced.
Touch screens: Reachability from driver’s seat is excellent and the infotainment is super responsive.
UNSURE
Seats: The seats are not bad but they didn’t knock my socks off. In comparison, the non-animal leather seats in the new Range Rover feel heavenly. Furthermore the headrest in the i7 are not adjustable! Sacrilege at this price range.
Interior design: I appreciate the boldness of the interior design. I don’t hate it but found myself more attracted to the interior design of the 2-Series Active Tourer.
Air vents: The air vents on the dashboard are an absolute joke. Tiny and have poor adjustability. Borderline butt hole sized.
DOWNSIDE
Exterior design: If you find an aircraft carrier or Hulk Hogan’s face beautiful, then the i7 is for you. I don’t know what to make of the design.
Other cars with deliberate visual mass that I can think of are the Phantom, Chrysler 300c and current Continental GT. But their designs are pretty and details all work in harmony.
IMO the G71 needs a two tone colour, matte paint or gimmicky alloys to give the exterior a personality.
Tech: I’m in my mid 30s. I’m not a blackberry loving boomer who hates touch screen. However, BMW has taken it a step too far. They have removed every single possible button or switch from the dashboard, gear selector and doors and moved functionality to the touch screen. This is particularly a big con in the 7-Series which should be a sanctuary of comfort and ease.
Having to think about, navigate the touch screen for functions that are second nature in other bimmers. This disrupts the calm created by the effortless power delivery. Some basic actions that are usually as easy as a button press, now require 2-4 interactions in the form of either taps, swipes, sliding etc.
Reducing the number of buttons aims to make the interior feel less cluttered and relaxing. However in the i7 it achieves the opposite. It may sounds like I’m anti technology and nagging but pre-LCI X5 is sweet spot is design/functionality.
You are welcome!@Centurion - many thanks for sharing your review! Great stuff and you've nicely demonstrated what a grear car this is - aircraft carrier sounds about spot on!
So I take it this car is at the UK dealers then...has it arrived at all or only limited dealerships?
Wow, it's a lot more than I would have thought, I wonder in how many more markets it will be like this, I had understood that this would be a real first full world year but it doesn't seem to beUK deliveries are expected to start in Q3 2023.
I don't think the UK is a high priority market for the car.Wow, it's a lot more than I would have thought, I wonder in how many more markets it will be like this, I had understood that this would be a real first full world year but it doesn't seem to be
They all going to the scrap yard lol.
I think it looks more hot as it comes from factory with its M-Sport paquet, the horizontal bars would have to see them with the big grill, perhaps in the new M70?![]()
This looks hot with the X6M grill and air intakes
Absolutely nothing wrong, on the contrary a clear display of power, all different and all make things clear![]()
