If you're driving most of the time alone, not needing all that space in the back and live in an overcrowded European country, where most parking garages are dated from the seventies and eighties, a time when cars were significantly smaller, you're not happy when cars are getting bigger and bigger with every new iteration.
Driving on highways, there's no problem, but as soon you're getting into a city, trying to find a parking lot, circling around narrow streets, it sometimes occurs to me: a bit shorter and less width would be nice.
It's not that it can't be done, but everytime my cars become bigger and bigger, it sometimes gets annoying. Personally, it doesn't feel like luxury at all.
That not only goes for this type of cars, but for many SUV/SAC even more so, because of their often absurd width.

Agreed.

It's a shame they don't bring EVERYTHING the S class embodies to an E class size. The E always seems compromised in some way whether it's build or ride.

Tell us about it, Mick.

Smack in the middle of Hamburg's city center (Rathaus, Neuer Wall, Grosse Bleichen, etc.), the parking garages are all from the late 1960s'/early 1970s'. A particular one located on Grosse Bleichen was difficult for me to navigate with my series I Audi TT. It is that narrow and I was always anxious about curbing the rims(they were the top-spec 18" ones). Exiting and entering required the qualities of a contortionist. In my KIA Sportage, it is even more frustrating, despite the distance sensors, etc. Frankly, how someone driving a 1.97m wide Taycan dares to park there is beyond me. Those who drive a G70/71, have fun with that 5.4m length and 1.95+ m width. Even with sensors and 4WS, it's sure to be a somewhat unsettling experience.

As I mentioned earlier, the night signature is hideous. The grille looks like an outline of a baboon’s ass.

See here:
The link doesn't work for me

This is unfortunate for buyers that intimately familiar with baboons asses.

Sucks to be them, I guess.

You only need to see it once to remember what it looks like. Which then again, was probably why BMW did it.
