I hate the huge black plastic of the wifi device overflowing & déflecting and not being on par with the lower plastic part like the right side of the panel.

Can you elaborate on the 3.0 bi-turbo diesel?
Any specs?
ETA?

Cheers,

Mark.

The 2.0TTDI is already in used by VW but at a reduced output, when it's installed into an Audi it's output will match that of it's competitor. The 3.0TTDI is in final testing (so I'm told) so watch this space.

P.S.
Oh output is approx. 300hp and 650Nm.

Overall, in-and-out a good balance in Audi design. Best looking in the range (excluding my favourites the A5 coupè and R8).:usa7uh:

F10 5er has this segment in the bag;) :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

3.0L not going to be ready for June 2011 then.

Nice design, but looks a bit boring. For me, the E is still the winner :) Interior looks very good though, very nice.
its looks good , the new e class looks boring it looks more old fashioned especially the interior looks horrible the old e class looks a lot better but the new Audi a6 looks marvelous like all the other Audi's.But the only thing that nearly messes it up for me is the interior is the the same (similar) to the others Audi's it would of been good if they changes it a bit:);)

The truth is that, even being so evolutionary and all that things, the car looks very very good, with a perfectly balanced side profile, a fantastic front end, a very good looking rear end, and a flawless interior (class leader to me).

So, in the end, I don´t like this more than the F10 5er, but I do like it more than the E-Class, which now feels clearly dated in terms of engines and interior design.

I think it will be interesting to hear people's comments when the A6 finally hits showrooms and ones can finally get to see all three of these cars in the fresh. Both the 5er and E-class have established themselves and are selling well but only with the arrival of this final competitor and it's first few months of sales are counted and compared will each design team know which of their efforts were the most successful.

I held off commenting, but after seening this video there's no doubt it's the sharpest car in its segement [IMO].The shape and design of the headlights are spot on I've seen the new 5er in person and thought it held the crown, but this might of just snatched it clean off. 0-60 5.5 sec is pretty impressive aswell. Many question the design of the a8 but since the a7's realease audi is now on a roll.

the more I see it, the more I like it. Again, I do wish the interior was a bit different than the A7, but oh well, the quality is impeccable. What I like about this car is how user-friendly it seems. Based on what's been said regarding the base diesel model, I assume the 3.0 TFSI is going to be the lightest car amongst its competitors. The legendary quattro AWD system will be included. It's got plenty of space, both in the cabin and in the trunk. Also I'm assuming it's going to be pretty solid performer just based on it being on the MLP platform. Audi is taking great strides making it an overall very efficient package.

If I had ~$50K and I had to spend it on either 5er or the A6, it would really come down to what the dealer is offering me in terms of the best deal. Coming from a guy who's pretty ga-ga over the 5er, that's high praise.

BTW, has anyone tried the touch-pad yet? How effective is it?

Quite true.

As for myself, I am convinced that Audi AG will soon be able to announce that its' hit a home run with the new A6. It appears to be a car that will be very appealing to a large audience of potential buyers. An automobile that late 20ish/early 30ish executives will aspire to own/lease while impressing the more traditional +50 demographic. And as soon as the Avant is introduced, order books will be absolutely bursting.

Were I in the market for an automobile in this segment, the new A6 would be very difficult for me to pass up. And that being said by a very enthusiastic F10 BMW 5 series fan ! As mentioned previously in this thread, it will come down to how accomodating the local dealers will be.

P.S.
I forgot to mention the weight compared to it's main rivals.

A6 2.0TDi = 1650kg (EU)
520d S/E = 1715kg (EU)
E 200cdi = 1720kg (EU)

A definite trend that started with the A8 and continuing with the A6 where Audi are the lightest of the three in class.

Well that's definite good news. Now if only they can get the handling right. Driving the previous current A6, there is a bit too much understeer for my taste.

My first thaught was that a fitting size of the Audi design elements were finally used. Too pronounced in the A8 and a bit discreet in the A4.

Bloody big A1. :eusa_thin

You sure that that's EU weight for the A6? With 75 kg driver, 7 kg luggage and full fuel tank?

I think we all agree that each brand are different to driving, one may prefer a Merc, another a BMW and someone else the Audi. Each brand needs to major on what they do best but also improve on those elements which they are let down on.

For me, the one thing that I didn't like about the C6 A6 that I drove - it was a 3.0 TDi quattro pre-facelift - was the brittle front suspension. Primary ride comfort and body control were fine - no qualms there - but higher frequency road imperfections made the secondary ride quality poor for such a premium product. Of all the things about the A6 - this is the one thing I'd want them to sort out the most.

The press release says 1575 kg for the A6 2.0 TDI, excluding driver.

So 1575 kg + 68 kg + 7 kg + 90% fuel tank 65 kg = around 1715 kg. That's more like the real world EU weight, and not some VAG happy world number. Very similar to the F10 5er, in other words.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
