A6/S6/RS6 Official: New Audi A6 (C7)

At least as far as Europe is concerned, the new A6 makes the A8 absolutely redundant. Trimmer yet remaining rich in content, arguably visually more attractive, more socially acceptable (a big thing here in Europe), I personally could not find an argument supporting the purchase of an A8 versus the new A6. And if one must have a bit more stylistic drama, a nicely spec'd A7 should fit the bill appropriately.

Perhaps the A8 fills the niche as a shuttle for high government officials and other celebrities of sorts, but otherwise...

I concur. Unless you really need the extra space, there are hardly any reasons to get the A8 because visually this A6 is nearly identical but looks better. Gosh, I can't get over how hot the multispoke rims are. I think these will be a smash hit. Imagine how they will look on an S5 Sportback or A7.

Boring is not the right word here. Not as we expected? Yes. Not challeninging enough? Yes. Boring? No! It is defenitely one of the worlds most tech car.

But yeah, it does look like an A4 with an eye-surgery. But on the other hand, I love the A4 and its really a beautiful car. The A4 has never been selling as good as it does now... Wonder why that is... People like this design!

I am also little disapointed that they didnt dare more. I am... But I am defenitely not as disapointed as I was, and still am, with the A8.

If you ask me, the best looking Audi right now is still...

Not something I'd buy, but I think it looks great! Stellar proportions, fresh and crisp and clean. A great alternative to what else is offered in its class.

How big are those wheels? Are they 18's? If so, good job by Audi in making it so 18's look tiny on the car (a'la F10). The W212 also pulls off 18's perfectly. This is an important factor, as you start sacrificing comfort and efficiency in ride after 18"'ers.

The front look cool, but I think it might get a bit old-to-the-eyes soon. From the front 3/4 angle, it's too designed/crazy and aggressive/angular for the rest of the car. in fact, the car looks fresh to me, BUT, when I see the 3/4 angle, the FRONT makes the side of the car look relatively "dated" and "bland".

The interior looks nice, yet a bit cold, "trendy", and overdesigned/too avantgarde for its own good. It leaves me a bit cold and flat. The "stretching out" optical illusion effect doesn't belong in a living space, as it actually makes me dizzy when I look at it from a distance. I do like it more than the A7's though, due solely to the lines on the doors being more harmonious to the eyes (they start high and descend, as opposed to the A7's starting low and ascending, which is just an effect that doesn't sit right with my eyes.

I do HATE that screen though, what is with this tack aftermarket-looking flat-screen stuff? These aren't flat-screen TV's in homes! Why do designers think that they have the same effect in cars? They clearly don't.

Does anyone know how much HP the V6 version of this car will have?

Also, about the "all newness" or not, c'mon guys, clearly this is a different chassis, has different proportions, uses many new parts, is more rigid, uses more intensive high strength steels (and presumingly more of it), and more light weight materials, etc. That constitutes "all new" in my book.

Anyway, all in all, a nice car, and a winner from Audi IMO. It "fixes" the current model, and evolves it well. I'm always a fan of evolution>revolution, so I appreciate it.

Also, I think it fixes what I don't like about the A7. I.e: It's a proper classic 3-Box Saloon (my favorite style for an automobile), and it doesn't have that fastback/hatchback thing ruining the rear for me. More my style here.

Oh please. A chisel here, a spanner there, and then a bit of a screwdriver here and there, but all these audis are still basically the same design.. :eusa_thin

Though to be fair, especially from seeing those pics in this thread, the same can be said for some Bmers as well

In Audi's defence, they're all good looking vehicles - except the A8 in my opinion. So I have no problems with the A4, A6 and to an extent the A7 looking similar. I personally like the same company, same design DNA philosophy of Audi and BMW - BMW offers a more appealing experience, again in my opinion.

I like this new A6, except for the interior. Audi interiors are just not my thing...

Apart from revealing the new generation of the model, Audi has also released the complete details of the new Audi A6 hybrid, including specs, images and the first videos. The Audi A6 hybrid is powered by the 2.0 TFSI engine, that develops 155 kW (211 hp) and an electric motor that offers an additional 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque. The electric motor of the Audi A6 hybrid is placed behind the TFSI taking the free space torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic transmission. The transmission of the Audi A6 hybrid sends torque to the front wheels.

On electricity only, the Audi A6 hybrid is able to get to a top speed of 100 km/h (62.14 mph). Also when running on electricity only,
the Audi A6 hybrid can go for 3 km at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph).

The manufacturer says the Audi A6 hybrid is able to offer the same performance of a V6, with a 4-cylinder engine. The Audi A6 hybrid has a top speed of 238 km/h (147.89 mph) and needs 7.3 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h. The Audi A6 hybrid has a fuel consumption of 6.2 liters per 100 km (37.94 US mpg), and a 142 g/km (228.53 g/mile) CO2 emissions level.
The Audi A6 hybrid price list has not been announced yet.

hybrid concept: Its combustion engine, a 155 kW (211 hp) 2.0 TFSI, works together with an electric motor that delivers 33 kW (45 hp) and 211 Nm (155.63 lb-ft) of torque. The electric motor sits directly behind the TFSI, occupying the space of the torque converter upstream of the modified 8-speed tiptronic. The transmission sends torque to the front wheels.

A crash-protected area of the luggage compartment houses a light, compact lithium-ion battery that provides 1.3 kWh of nominal power and generates 39 kW. Depending on requirements, it is air-cooled
in two ways – by means of a blower from the interior or by means of an internal refrigerant circuit coupled to the automatic air conditioning system. This technology largely maintains the rechargeable battery within the appropriate temperature range, thereby ensuring that the vehicle operates on electric power a comparatively large percentage of the time.

The Audi A6 hybrid can achieve speeds of up to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) purely on electricity; at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37.28 mph), it has a range of 3 km. It can also operate with the combustion engine only or in hybrid mode; in the deceleration phases, it recovers power and activates both the engine and the electric motor together when accelerating quickly.

My biggest problem:

You think its the current A6 when covering that part..

And yet there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing it! BMWs have never looked better, and neither have Audis, Mercedes on the other hand look like cheap and nasty Korean cars... all distinctly different cheap and nasty Korean cars of course.

Just what was it that people were hoping for? Something radically different like penis shaped door handles, flame boosters and machine gun turrets grafted onto the roof?

yes.. its true.. differentiating brings out korean-ness..
One must be very careful to make all cars the same..

Tumbo, please edit your posts, don't post one after another, there's plenty of time to edit your post.

OK?

Thanks! :usa7uh:

OK i think the 2 pics of the A4 and A6 that Tumbo posted above can make my point. Which one is the A4 and which is the A6? I'm not saying I cannot distinguish them but if somebody told me that A4 is the A6, and the A6 is the A4, it would make sense because their "character" is identical, both with pretty playful emotions. With MB for eg, there is no way you'd call the E class a C or vice versa, and more so with BMW... i just think the upper class car should look more upper class, with a emotion or face that is more elegant and mature.

PanterroR, please, the things Im posting has NOTHING to do with eachother. Why should I merge "Audi A6 Hybrid" and the looks of the side profile?
I've been admin of a huge forum for 10 years... And I know when to edit my post. Can you please split them again, thank you.

If you are 'into' a brand then you question how someone could possibly mistake one model from the next, and this goes for not only Audi but BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc, in fact any brand to uses the same style of grille and light design. But if not then I could see how confusing it could possibly be. Brand designs are like Marmite, you either like them or you don't and the more so you prefer one brand over another this becomes even more extreme.

Thank heavens that each brand has their own unique favour of exterior/interior design, otherwise the world would be a very boring place as a motoring enthusiast. :t-cheers:

Rolling video clips look good. Just needs a drop and space those wheels out a bit and you're set. Now, where are the Avant pics??? :t-drive:

There is one reason why they have kept the car current and that is China where the current A6L is the segments best selling car. Of course I expect the A6L to debut at Shanghai next year .

It is evolutionary to appeal to the traditional A6 customer and continues the clean lines whilst the family look is coming familiar between A4 and A8.
The front lights could have been better though , head on it looks like an A1.

I just wish that designer had more courage in designing rear end of this car.Everything else on this car is just great, especially interior :eusa_clap
At last, new F10 BMW 5 series receives decent rival :).

Bloody big A1. :eusa_thin

P.S.
I forgot to mention the weight compared to it's main rivals.

A6 2.0TDi = 1650kg (EU)
520d S/E = 1715kg (EU)
E 200cdi = 1720kg (EU)

A definite trend that started with the A8 and continuing with the A6 where Audi are the lightest of the three in class.

I'd like to write an essay - but am short on time so...

I love it. It's all good except for the very staccato manner with which the rear lights terminate their outermost edges - much like the A8. If they had just a touch of the A4's wraparoundy'ness the dynamic motion suggested by the front would feel congruent with the rear... Nevertheless, this car looks fantastic and the front overhang looks so petite, it's uncanny.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
