It appears so! So I take it you prefer the rear end of the E90 to that of the B8?

Yeah the rear isn't bad, it's good, but i don't like a car's look because i like it's rear.. look at the side profile, 99.99% identical to the current A4, a bit smoother and streamlined maybe.. oh well you might say the current A4 is so good that it doesn't need a major re-do to keep up with fashion, but i find it boring. Perhaps if the two cars are lined up side by side the difference will become a tad more apparent. Audi comes up with very nice concepts and then just tone them down so much. And sorry for harsh words, but the LEDs in the headlight unit, is a cheap copy of what BMW is doing for angel eyes... i mean yes, over time if i see one of those curvy LEDs in my mirror I will know it's an Audi, but it's not like it looks good, they could've just put the word AUDI in the headlight andn light it up with LED. BMW's angel eyes is their history, they have been doing circular headlights since the beginning, and i doubt MB will ever do anything similar, it's not needed.

To the above post, Audi is king of sublety.. not with the R8 or TT, those cars looks great and 'radical' (in audi terms) and their concepts are certainly no boring shapes. What does 'truth in engineering' means? Like you build a machine and don't try to dress it up nicely so it is the 'truth'?

Both the TT and R8 are especially subtle when you compare them to their competitors, most of which are either flamboyant or overzealous in appearance. "Truth In Engineering" means no gimmicks, a commitment to a specific philosophy for engineering, building, and designing high quality vehicles that deliver a personable ownership experience and not a confrontational one through intuitive technological means.

For me the car looks amazing. When the first pictures where revealed, it took me only few minutes to warm-up to the design. Wait till you see it in person. The proportions, the lines, the details tell the car is an Audi. I can easily tell which Audi is which and would be able to tell the old A4 from the new one.

I do not want to start a comparison, but it took me a lot more time to warm up to my e90. Till now, I look at the tail lights and I feel something awkward about the design. Do not get me wrong, I love my e90.

About the front LED lights, wait till you see them. I like to turn-on the angle eyes on my bimmer at dusk. It tells the other bimmer drivers a fellow is around. I am interested to see how audi will exeucte such an identiy on its cars. Having few variations would be nice, but not too many.

I really don't know what some people were expecting. Audi is the king of subtlety, an element of their design philosophy that's loomed since the 80's, and they're committed to it. This approach won't be leaving Audi anytime soon. In my eyes, this is what every car maker should be doing w/ it's designs, as opposed to radicalizing every new generation for the sake of keeping up with current fashion trends and generating "peak" interest, glamorizing vanity instead of celebrating character and engineering triumph. AoA's slogan, "Truth in Engineering" couldn't fit the brand's character any better. Aside form that people don't buy Audi's because they're fashionable, they buy them because they're "different" from their competitors.

Great post Deutsch , 100% true. You have really understood Audi philosophy.
Every step is carefully planed and executed. A5 is a coupe , it needs to stand out more so we have mascular shoulders , "signature" LED front lights and lower-agressive stance.
A4 is a entry luxury , family sedan which targets educated , and self conscious people that like to keep a low profile.

Mmmmm, I was wondering too, since I am also gay. Last time I checked I had a pretty good set of biceps too, so not sure how gay is supposed to be "feminine".. But anyhoo....

Suble and boring are completely different things bmwownage. Suble would require you to pay more attention to the details, which the new A4 does, boring would be the lack of detail!

According to swedish salesperson there will be a turbocharged engine with similar power as 335i, +300hp for Audi A4.

Haha, no one really apologized. However, some people who originally didn't like the car when they saw the first red a4 picture, actually started to like it after they saw the White S-line a4.
