Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Good eye Eni. I think the gaps are minimized to a point where they are no longer noticable in pics.. or might be simply a photoshop. no idea really

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

sweet ... but giving the LED daytime running lights an illuminated bluish tint will make it even more striking ;)

murcie, is there by any chance you're from the VAGSG forum?

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

Just because everyone jumps out of the plane without a parachute doesn't make it a good idea. AUDI is growing because they have entered into new markets that their competitors have been late entering into and the fact that they have been putting out quality products, not ground breaking products. :t-cheers:

Not hating on AUDI, just hate it when people justify something with the sales figures. People jump on the latest fads, doesn't mean it will hold forever.

Which in turn also applies for BMW. Their reign as top dog will soon come to an end.

It happened to mercedes, it happened to sony, it happened to Great Britain etc and now it will happen to BMW. What goes up must come down. Time for a new leader.:D

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Holly shit this is hot, still have problems with the front though. Why not a straight shot of the front yet??

:icondrool :icondrool
This seem to be the answer to the 335i and the C350 sport.

Very sexy diffuser.

im in LOVE. BMW fans eat your hearts out

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

???????????????

Have anybody else noticed there is no rear cut on side skirt, only the front cut is there. :eusa_thin

It looks like one huge piece: side wing with wheel arch + side skirt + C-pillar.

:t-hands::t-hands::t-hands::t-hands::t-hands:

Or is it so thin it's not noticeable at all? :t-hands:

Well spotted mate. I had a closer look after you have pointed it out. I am sure the Audi engineers have found a way to hide the gap lines right? I mean pressing this massive piece of sheet steel will cost a lot, and it will be a nightmare to design the pressing tool, and to control the manufacturing tolerance.

Onto something different, the front overhang has been noticably reduced so the side view of the car looks more balanced.

Which equals better handling!:D

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

I hope Audi has concentrated on making the driving dynamics better, because the A4 has always been behind the 3series in terms of driving enjoyment.

Let's hope all this new technology will make the A4 the best driving car in its class, because on looks alone, it doesn't appear to be all that great.

Yes, indeed. But when compared to RWD cars like BMW, MB, Lexus, Infiniti then the Audi's front overhang is still very noticeable. It's still a FWD car after all.

Another thing:

Guys, check the pic of engine bay with 1.8 TFSI engine inside: is it mounted transversely????

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Wow haven't been here a few days and we have 30+ pages for new A4 thread! Have to say though, nothing exciting but i like it more than the A5, i just hate the curvy lines of the A5. Looking at the side profile, it is pretty much identical to the existing A4. No wonder BMW isn't too worried about giving the E90 a substantial exterior facelift (my opinion). C-class looks to be more of a threat, but of course Audi might've spent their time on driving dynamics this time and less on exterior.
And to me, those LEDs headlights I think is Audi's way to do Angel's eyes, but hey it doesn't work (right?) it looks toy-ish. Maybe in the future Audis you will see this curvy LED light thing in all their headlights, but at the moment i just think it is dumb..
Interior is pretty good, just as expected, the same as A6.
I guess recent Audis are just not my cup of tea.. heh :)

"I guess recent Audis are just not my cup of tea..heh:) "

It appears so! So I take it you prefer the rear end of the E90 to that of the B8?

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

Eni, yes it is, the same pic surprised me when I saw it this morning. This must surely mean that the FWD B8s have engines mounted transversly A3-style and the AWD B8s have the engines mounted longitudinally but with the new asymmetrical quattro drivetrain layout. The press blurb that Bartek posted earlier on in this thread appears to confirm this.

What's nice about the flexibility in the engine orientation is that now, S-Tronic (DSG) can be offered on the FWD A4's for the first time. I'm curious to see when and how DSG (I hate using the term S-Tronic) gets implemented in quattro driven models. I have a distinct impression that Audi have engineered the new asymmetrical quattro drivetrain not only to facilitate the rearward location of the engine but also to accomodate DSG mechanicals in the gearbox. Interesting times...

i think that it is mounted transversely..

But what's the difference if it's mounted transversely or longitualy? (advantages - dissadvantages)

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

It will definitely improve the weight distribution of the car and the handling ability. The handling of the A5 hasn’t been receiving raving reviews. Most of them say the chassis is very competent, but still not as entertaining as the rear wheel drive competitors.

Engine is mounted transversely, look at the position of the spark plug ignition, the are in a row, horizontally.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

^^^ An unless Audi decides to offer rear wheel drive it never will be as entertaining.

Re: New AUDI A4 (Official pics).

the amount of BMW hate on this forum by Audi fans is seriously out of control.
BMW has to be put down in almost every post by some guys here.
Yannis, it's your job to keep them in control a bit. It's becoming very annoying.

I understand Richboy and co. being very insecure after this mild B7 exterior facelift, but come on now....

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany.
