They need to just cancel this. Revisit it when you’re serious about making a more bespoke, desirable SL. I mean the least they could have done was use the V12.

I think this SL looks better standard and the Maybach changes don't suit it, making it appear too glitz for what it really is and that is a sports car. The SL is not a GT car that the Maybach trim is more suited to.

I agree. This generation SL was conceived as an AMG product and a Maybach version just makes no sense at all……unless you fundamentally change the car. Which is what they clearly didn’t do.

IMO, what would make the SL680 a lust worthy object:

- V12 - Pick the hp number, it doesn't matter, it's the cylinder count that counts here.
- Far more bespoke interior with different screens and dashboard
- Every single color offered by Mercedes-Benz, including the Manufaktur catalog should be available, charge extra for someone that wants a weirdo color combo if you have to
- Less Maybach emblems
- Black, Blue, Green (dark like Forrest Green), Brown, Dark Tan, Silver, Red soft top colors available
- A different front end where the grille doesn't look like the cut and paste job that it is
- Finally offer the one off customization where you can have the car in any color you want inside and out, like Rolls and Bentley do.

Yeah I know it won't happen because of $$$$ so bother posting that response. Still doesn't change the fact that this total waste of money and resources for the company and a total half-ass effort.

...but ONLY under the condition that a hypothetical AMG GT Maybach is absolutely devoid of the tacky, shiny rubbish applied to the SL. Okay, the Maybach signature grill can stay, as can the nice multispoke rims. A completely vent free flank/front fender aesthetic would be very nice. Nothing to disrupt the elegant visual flow. Of course, elegant glossy Manufaktur paint hues would be an absolute "must". No two-tone crap or silly M-B stars incorporated onto the paint finish.

It won't. That's a pure AMG product. The SL, despite sharing bones, is still marketed as a Mercedes first.

Since mid-December 2024, the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series has been available to order for EUR 255,850 including 19% VAT. The discount is now 3% instead of 0%.

However, the choices were very limited.

Either you opt for the Red Ambience version with the Manufaktur lacquer garnet red metallic or you choose the White Ambience version with the Manufaktur lacquer opalite white magno.

The bonnet is painted in osidian black in both versions. The much-discussed Mercedes-Maybach Pattern on the bonnet is available as an option for 7,735 euros.

If you now want a bonnet in the colour of the car, you have to choose the Manufaktur Lacke for 11,781 euros. There is the possibility to get the Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 with a bonnet in the body colour.

Enclosed is a selection of manufactory exclusive paint colors, which, in my opinion, makes the Maybach SL 680 appear with a completely different elegance.

There are some spectacular exterior colours on the menu.

I like this shade of green elbaitgrün metallic.

What a major difference this makes to the Maybach SL turning it into a very desirable high end convertible.

Unfortunately on the Mercedes German website the only interior colour is still only white.

I hope they will bring in some unusual and high end colours soon.

Oh YEAH !

THIS...with terracotta hued leather and fabric top + body colored windscreen frame could be drop dead elegant IMHO.
