S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Maybach S-Class (Z223)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.

Two similar but very different cars. The cabin of the Phantom is escapism from stress, work, anxiety and life admin.

The Mercedes on the other hand is like a first class cabin. Either relax, play or use it as a mobile office. I would love to ride a Phantom on the weekends or to the opera/restaurant but would prefer to sit in the Maybach during an early morning or after a long flight.

My ideal combo would be a LWB S-Class with executive rear seating + Flying Spur or a Phantom.

Okay so a couple of things. I actually like this special edition model. I like the color specification and presentation. That said I have come to the conclusion the new plant that builds the W223 and EQ models is suffering from a quality control problem. There are clear areas on this special edition where the silver trim doesn't line up, the doors don't line up, the paint is uneven. I mean does Mercedes not see this or do they not care anymore? A Mercedes used to put together and assembled better than any other car on the road until the 90's when Lexus came along. The things I see here are unacceptable on this car.

Now, this customization is what they need to do more of, though those carpets look like nothing special lol. They need heritage leather colors and more wood choices. How expensive can that be if you promote it more to get people to buy it? I'm going to be forever waiting on Mercedes to truly "push the button" on Maybach and truly trot the brand out with some bold specifications and bespokeness.

New MM S680 seems to be a rare spotting compare to S580

As sad as I am to come to this realization; the 6 V12 is defunct. More expensive than the 580 and won’t come with 4Matic. This will only be bought for bragging rights. How the mighty have fallen :/

The reasons people have liked the v12 in Mercedes cars was it’s smoothness and torque, attribute now taken to much higher degrees by electric power trains. Different times indeed. Also, as I am sure other pointed out already, v12 now finally comes with 4matic (just as it became obsolete).

When your cash cow EQE is more smooth and makes no sound and vibrations compared to your flagship V12, you know times are indeed changing.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
