Official: Mercedes-Benz Shooting Break Concept

I definitely belong to the group of people who just don't care about the hood shutline. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

If you can't avoid it, you learn to live with it. My car has a similar hood shut line. I hate it, but I have got used to it :D

Maybe, but I have had a loooooong time adjusting to it. I clearly remember the spy pics of the E63 6er, and after all these years I quite frankly don't see those lines anymore as something that's not good :/

I hate it. It works on some cars like the SLA but in this instance and similar others it appears to be an 'unforced error' since it could have just as well been done the traditional way.

It was supposed to be a Shooting Brake, and not a Shooting Break...

Mercedes-Benz confounded some of us before the Beijing auto show when it sent out press materials announcing the Shooting Break station wagon concept. The name was plastered on the photos and on the news release.

Now, I certainly have been known to break a thing or two. I also occasionally take a break. I don’t recall ever shooting anything during one. Mercedes’ release explained that Shooting Breaks “were popular in Great Britain … exclusive crossover vehicles which combined the luxuriousness of a coupe with the luggage space of an estate.”

A quick Google check and … they meant Shooting Brakes, not Breaks. Turns out Mercedes intended to call the station wagon concept version of the next-generation CLS a Brake, according to a Mercedes USA spokesman, who incidentally is Scottish and used to work in Great Britain.

When you consider that a German company was putting together an English language press kit for an auto show in China, a few transposed letters isn’t all that bad.

Mercedes to bring CLC Shooting-Brake according to a report

The Stuttgart car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz will introduce in 2013 a sport wagon version of the CLC to the market. This is a preview. The new model should compete with life-style models from Audi and BMW. The CLC Shooting Brake is 4.40 meters long - and that hits the middle between the new CLC coupe (4.20 meters) and the C-Class Estate (4.60 meters).

Stuttgart. Mercedes brings according to Autobild in September 2013 the CLC Shooting Brake variant to the market. The CLC model, which is located between coupe and wagon carries the internal Symbol X117. It should compete with lifestyle models from Audi and BMW. Because the production capacity may be insufficient, the CLC Shooting Brake may be built in Brazil, China as the production site is in discussion, the paper said.

In particular, the steeply raked grille, the long snout and the flat windshield, which merges seamlessly into the arched roof, immediately catch the eye. The side narrowed and back sloping tail are longer than in other Mercedes models. The rear lights are pulled around much, the roof consists of tinted glass on request. With the All-Terrain package including all-wheel drive the new CLC Shooting Brake targets the Audi Allroad models. The CLC Shooting Brake is 4.40 meters long - and that hits the middle between the new CLC coupe (4.20 meters) and the C-Class Estate (4.60 meters).

Technically, the X117 meets all requirements appropriate to its class. The steering uses electric servo assistance, the rigid omega-link rear gives way to a modern independent suspension, most assistance systems are already known from the E-Class. The Shooting Brake is powered by engines whose technical layout Renault has defined - from the 1.2-liter gasoline engine with 109 horsepower on to the most powerful diesel with 2.2 liters and 170 hp to the 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 204 PS. For the AMG version a supercharged four-cylinder with 272 horsepower is planned, with 4Matic all-wheel drive standard.

Mercedes-Benz prepares CLC Shooting Brake

By: Greg Kable - Autoweek

Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche has given approval for a second Shooting Brake model to accompany the brand's eagerly awaited CLS Shooting Brake due out in 2012, according to German media reports.

The new model is expected to go on sale in North America in 2014. It's based on the German carmaker's upcoming CLC--a four-door coupe that uses a new platform that will offer buyers a stylish but practical rival to the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and the upcoming BMW 3-series GT.

The CLC variant would be priced below the larger and more opulent CLS version. “Shooting brake” is a term used to describe sporty wagons that usually have two long doors. The term is becoming popular again, and Ferrari revealed the FF--which uses shooting-brake styling--this spring at the Geneva motor show.

The five-door CLC Shooting Brake is set to receive a sloping roof and a heavily angled tailgate that eschews outright load capacity for head-turning style. It will be sold alongside the CLC coupe, which Mercedes has confirmed will go on sale in the U.S. market in 2013.

The CLC Shooting Brake will come with a new range of four-cylinder, direct-injection gasoline engines, along with the choice of either front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.
