^I wonder when or if they will announce production plans on the wagon. Maybe after the CLS doubts.

Before the world premiere at the Auto China in 2010 we show you a new interpretation of the coupe: the Concept Shooting Break, a hint in the direction of the new CLS. The 4 door model with precitipous rear has a dynamic design, large panoramic roof and full LED headlight. This new light system unites all dynamic light functions from indicator to high beam in LED technology and goes into production in 2010 as a world first.

This LED race is really hard to keep up with. I thought Audi had full LED on the R8 5.2. or on the new A8???

It won´t be standard since we have seen plenty spy pics of the car with xenon too, so...

Probably even Xenon will not be standard. :eusa_doh: But well, this is more a discussion for the CLS Spypic thread.

Cannot wait to see the sedan version. Lines on this car are sexuality on wheels! CLS AMG Performance Package all the way!

CLS Wagon, SLS Roadster, C-Class Coupe, C-Class facelift, SL, SLK and new ML all within the next 12-18 months. Most importantly the new V6 and V8 engines. Next up CLS and C-Class facelift I think.

Problem is Mercedes is really behind at the volume end of things. The GLK is STUPIDLY only in left hand drive, they lack a credible alternative to the A3 and 1-series and they have neither an answer to the A1 or X1 on the way.

Especially considering they are working on the next S-class as well. It will be interesting to see when the CL shows up too. That has been taking forever.

It will be interesting to see what cars will get a hint of this design language of this concept other then the CLS.

The CL should be in June which means we're not too far away. I just can't wait to read the press release about the new V8. I absolutely ***LOVE **** reading press releases especially about new engines.

Yeah GLK thing was a huge mistake, hard to believe they didn't think they'd need to engineer the vehicle for the UK.

Honestly I don't want them to do a car to take on the A3. The 1-Series sure, meaning something small, sporty and RWD. The A3 and A/B Classes I really wish they'd get rid of.

Supposedly they do have a BLK or whatever on the way to challenge the X1. That said I don't think Mercedes needs to follow BMW and Audi to the absolute bottoms of the market. Mercedes' bread is buttered much higher and I think they should focus there. More E and S-Class derivatives and do something with Maybach. It is hard for a 20K hatchback to drive/feel like a Mercedes. You simply can't engineer much S-Class into that. Its easier for BMW as sporty is easy to do on the cheap. Audi has a jillion different basic car platforms to base a premium model on so giving a car like the A1 or A3 a typical premium Audi interior is easier.

Mercedes just doesn't do cheap well they never have. Witness the first few years of the 190E or the first A-Class. Maybe now with their new tieup with the the Japanese/French they'll get something they can use.

I'd like to see Mercedes, if they must challenge the small entry-level segments, build something RWD with semi-retro styling and a concentrate on a sportier driving experience and quality interiors. Not this small bread van look they seem to prefer. I can't stand the A/B cars. They're a disgrace IMO. Sorry for the rant...lol.
