It clearly is the same car as previous, an extended facelift. The real new S is the EQS.
Exactly. I can imagine the EQS being a brilliant cheuffur driven car, with hotels likely adding EV chargers so that cheuffurs don't have to drive to a pump for fuel.

That is indeed one of the main issues with the interior but how can anyone argue that the rear lights fit is beyond me. Something like the s class coupe taillights or the amg gt 4 door taillights would work just fine, but this triangular shape is just awful and doesn’t flow at all.

Because style is an opinion, not a fact. Meanwhile you and other BMW apologist are fawning over two of the ugliest BMWs ever made and a dumb looking Rolls that's stuck in the past. See how it works?

It looks sublime with that classic spec.

The W223 looks very imposing and majestic in this shot. It has typical S-class elegance.

RBR said it very correctly in his review, while the w222 looks elegant in its own way, as a suit, the w223 is cleaner, tighter, like a Tom Ford suit.

I'm not an apologist of any brand regardless of what you think.
Not sure which two BMWs you're referring to but if it's the M3 and M4, I didn't post anything about those cars, where is the fawning? I think those cars look ok at best by the way, the grill itself is fine, it's the licence plate running trough it that looks bad and also the sensor which bmw very deceptively decided to ommit from the two cars they used at launch.
I do like the new ghost.

Regarding design you may prefer a certain style over another but it's clear that certain designs flow while others don't. A good example is the horizontal tailights on the FL E-class which was clearly designed to have vertical taillights.

Goddammit, M-B S-Class design team dudes ...:

You've somehow managed to diminish the visuals of the previously seemingly invincible Bentley Flying Spur.

You can argue ad-nauseum what you are and what you aren't. One thing is for certain though, and that is you are broken record.

Right so you like the ugliest cars BMW has produced in a generation or two, with the grille being "fine". It's your opinion on their design just like mine is an opinion on the S-Class. Nope it isn't clear what design flows and what doesn't doesn't flow it's still an opinion. Quit trying to pass your opinion off as fact because it isn't. I'm talking about the S-Class not the FL E and you don't know what the E was designed for, or where you there?

I like the ugliest bmws? Didn't I just say they looked OK at best?

Regarding the E, are you serious? C, pre-facelift E and W222 were all designed with vertical tailights. When the E was facelifted they replaced the vertical lights with horizontal ones but didn't change the body itself hence leaving a lot of awkward-looking empty space.

The idea that good design is 100% subjective is beyond absurd.

Yesterday evening I was driving home from office and enjoyed the impeccable comfort of my car. The thought that crossed my mind was:”Though you really dislike some design cues, interior aspects and the HMI in general, you probably end up buying yet again another S; it’s the way it drives, stupid!”.
They must do something right in Sindelfingen...

I think that is a key ingredient to the S's repeat customer rate. There is just an incredible depth of engineering to almost every element of the vehicle which translates to a driving experience and ownership experience that others struggle to replicate.
