S-Class W223 [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223)

The Mercedes-Benz W223 is the seventh generation of the S‑Class full-size luxury sedan, produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2020. It replaces the W222 S‑Class which had been produced since 2013.

Michelin PS4S tires are not a recipe for low tire noise, especially in that size and the suspension has to deal with all of that heaviness.
What tires would you suggest ? Its almost time to replace them in my Panamera TS Hybrid.

The first review video I watched on this was from Motoman on YouTube and it was very complimentary. The rest of the reviews so far are mixed. The complaints are mainly on the difficulty of the different systems working together. Carwow had a major complaint on the seconds-long delay to get real power if you engine shuts off automatically but you need to nail it again.

I will be surprised if this is anywhere near $225k in the US. Sadly unattainable for me at these prices. It will have to be the regular S 580 for me, as much as I am eating up each and every aspect of this new AMG S Class.

I've been a faithful to the Pirelli P-Zero PZ4 MO-S (Mercedes Original - Silent) on my W222 for sometime now with the OEM W223 AMG-Line wheel.

The sound deadening foam tech + all-around dynamics makes it a very good year-round tire. Rolls-Royce uses it on the Ghost as well. The Porsche equivalent Pirelli PZ4 NO (Porsche OE) is what I had on my Panamera Turbo. Just be wary of bad potholes (which I'm sure are nearly as bad where you live compared to NYC roads), as it's a weakness for sidewall.

I'm shocked they didn't keep the Pirelli OE tires on the S63 since it has the same diameter/offset, or even Continental. PS4S tires are notorious noisy and expensive.

Overall positive reviews, but the added weight seems to negate the power increases. I really wonder how much faster it is versus a W222 AMG with the same engine and no E-performance tech. Tuned W212/W222 AMGs with the similar power as the W223 S63 are monsters in instrument tests.

AMG E-performance keeps proving the "F1 derived" solution no one really asked for.

My dealer is estimating that the S63 will run north of $210k, therefore, merging the S63 performance and S65 price bracket into one car. Still no DOG, so the jury is still out. Frankly very expensive, but hey nowadays you have the new Maserati Gran Turismo selling in the same price range.

Performance wise is almost identical to 2017 Panamera Hybrid, so this F1 tech bring nothing, only when the F1 E Performance AMG, Hamilton signed battery fails outside warranty this S is a very expensive, but I guess it comes with 8 years warranty.

The big difference between this AMG S63 E-performance and my down to earth S 350d is, that in ten to fifteen years time mine will still be on the road, due to reliable and old technology functioning flawlessly (talking about sustainability). My bold prediction is, that that won't be the case with the S63 with it's E-preformance overkill.

Because she said no :)-

Also differentiation, C Class engines and S Class engines being largely the same was never an issue before, from memory.

One day, Greta Thunberg will block the path of an ambulance, causing the death of a patient, and I hope she receives a life imprisonment.

I would have loved for them to have used the 55 engine on the C class and arrived at essentially the same tupe of power as they do now, but have a v8. The 4-cyl engine is just a failure to what the essence of this model is. The C has always gotten a lower level of tune than the E and the S.
Truly impress by the car, luxury and power with a really good design I'm impressed.

But why didn't AMG do this with the C63?

:(

I'm very curious to see what the acceleration is like in EV mode and how far can it go on EV mode.

Probably something like 8 seconds 0-60. They say about 20 miles under ideal conditions on EV alone. Real world probably 10-15 miles until the V8 has to kick in.

It is kind of cool to have the option to leave/enter the garage and neighborhood quietly at quiet hours, not to mention commuting in urban areas without emiting gases.

This is a review that was very positive.

Raz drove it in Sport+ mode all the time so yeah its good but S-class owners don't drive in Sport mode, they want the power at any moment and the hybrid system has a big delay as per Matt from carwow test drive. But he's not allowed to criticize Mercedes, otherwise no Black Series next time.

Its funny, before buying the AMG GT I watched Raz review where he mentioned there's little road noise in the car. In reality the road noise is excessive.

If he is not allowed to criticize Mercedes, he has screwed up royally then with the review of the C 63. I think he is fairly objective. If there is a bias, I believe it comes out of him being a true AMG fan rather than servile to the manufacturer.
