Does anybody have photos of the rear of the porcelain/black inrerior? I can't find. Especially interesting in door panel.

The german site has given me the best perspective I can get so far....

Given the pics I've seen on the net so far of Ash, it won't look this "playful" in real life, but the simulator does at least allow you to see how the 3 different colors with mesh. I know some won't be a fan of this, but for some weird reason....I like it.

I'm not sure the cold colour of the silver works with the warm colour of the seats, but it's YOUR interior. I've definitely seen worse ... I'd need to see pics that aren't a simulation

Me too. Problem is, I don't think anyone is gonna try it, lol, so seeing it in real life or even an internet pic is going to be almost impossible.

Kratos, I'm not going to lie I'm not a fan of that color combo. I don't like that color against the extremely light colored seats. That wood would look good with a black interior. To each their own of course, that's why we have options!

I think it's cool looking, I was never a fan of the granite that Designo used to offer. :yuck:

Ha! I loved the granite design in a black interior.

I totally understand your perspective. And these "simulation" pics makes the Ash look horrible. I've seen what Ash looks like on other combos in "real" pics, so I'm putting together in my head what I "think" the finish product will be. Could come out horrific, I know.....just going on a hunch here that it could be something special.

If it comes out a disaster, my wife and I are prepared for the impact.

I'm certainly interested to see the result. :) Just a thought- perhaps your dealer can get you some swatches of leather and a sample piece of wood for you to help visualize. I've never done that at my MB dealer but have done so at other luxury car dealerships.

Hmmm....never even thought of that. :) I wonder if they can.....I'm gonna ask my dealer and find out.

Good pic. Thanks for posting. If you find anymore Ash, please post them. I'm trying to gather as many pics as possible before my January delivery.
If your build date is January, aren't you getting close to the time you have to finalize the order? Does anyone how much time it takes to build once they start? Or at least how many weeks before build do you need to finalize it?

Correct. I think I have to the 15th of this month before no change can be made. That's like 4 days before I can take back this Ash......LOL

I wonder if anyone that has the W222 can tell me if they can change their speedo from MPH to KMH? I looked in both manuals but could not find a way to change it. I'm picking up my car in Germany for EDP but as it is a US version, I am curious if this is changeable. If not, perhaps they will update it in Brunswick when the car gets Stateside.

Thanks

Tom
I'm going to answer my own question as I went to a dealer and changed the settings between km and mph today. I needed my semi-monthly fix. Also, I'm a big guy and usually when I sit in a car I move the seat all the way back. Not so in this car but even all the way back my wife had plenty of room in the seat behind me.

I sat in the back this time. Headroom was a bit tight but I'm tall in the body so as long as your passengers are under 6 foot 6 inches, there should be plenty of room. My shoulder hit the A pillar a bit in the front too but that was with seat too far back.

I actually find I need one memory position for driving and one for exit as the easy exit feature does not move the seat all the way back. So 1 is driving for me, 2 is for the wife and 3 is way back.

Does anyone know the process taken to metalise the wood ?

I think is a dye/stain, Luke. My guess is Mercede's does the "double stain" technique, that's to apply the dye/stain one time, let dry, then sand the wood again to remove a considerable amount of that stain and the apply a new coat of stain, but with lesser opacity. That's how you also make the wood's grain more visible.

Is that what you do when you make guitars?

Yes, it's a technique widely used in instruments making. It can turn plain looking wood into show stoppers, as highlights grain very well, but also takes off a bit of the 3D/deep effect on some figured woods like quilted/flame maple. In those cases I just aply one coat of stain and pass to the laquer stage, without double staining. :)

Kratos, you used to be Feb/March delivery if my memory serves me. How were you able to move it up...or does my memory just suck?

Hi All, about a month ago I posted about how the dealership screwed up my order and to get exclusive nappa leather on another order is delayed til March/April at least. Well the screwed up car arrives either tomorrow or Wednesday, and I am considering a few options, and am seeking suggestions.

I really like the S coupe concept and am wanting to place an order for one when it is announced. That being said, I don't know what to do for the next x months til the S coupe is released (don't have a firm estimate of US arrival yet).

Currently I'm in the car for 6-8 hours a day going to and from 5 business locations of mine. I get stuck in traffic a lot, and would love to have the comfort and driving assistance tech of the S class. I've gotten more comfortable with the options that weren't on my order that were supposed to be, but certainly don't want to keep this S class for more than about 8 months as it is spec'd out right now. Due to the delay in exclusive leathers, and hopefully playing off the wait list, I am wondering if I can buy this car this week, drive it for a 2-4 months, and sell it before I get hit with the typical 15-20% depreciation in the first year...or even come out a little ahead.

As it stands, my S550 would arrive in the following:
Anthracite Blue/Exclusive Black Nappa Leather/Sunburst Myrtle Wood Exclusive Trim
Premium Pack 1
Drivers Assistance
Night Vision
Air Balance
Magic Body Control
Power Rear Seats with Memory (required with exclusive leather)
(regular trim) (They screwed up not including the Sports pack1, surround view cam, black poplar trim. And I didn't order night vision)(As someone previously mentioned, my dealership is very busy and my order was probably "resold" to someone with deeper pockets than myself)

Any thoughts on the continued demand for the cars...are the waiting lists for the cars growing, stalled, shrinking? Will exclusive leather help keep the depreciation down til there is more supply?

General thoughts?
