Hi All, about a month ago I posted about how the dealership screwed up my order and to get exclusive nappa leather on another order is delayed til March/April at least. Well the screwed up car arrives either tomorrow or Wednesday, and I am considering a few options, and am seeking suggestions.

I really like the S coupe concept and am wanting to place an order for one when it is announced. That being said, I don't know what to do for the next x months til the S coupe is released (don't have a firm estimate of US arrival yet).

Currently I'm in the car for 6-8 hours a day going to and from 5 business locations of mine. I get stuck in traffic a lot, and would love to have the comfort and driving assistance tech of the S class. I've gotten more comfortable with the options that weren't on my order that were supposed to be, but certainly don't want to keep this S class for more than about 8 months as it is spec'd out right now. Due to the delay in exclusive leathers, and hopefully playing off the wait list, I am wondering if I can buy this car this week, drive it for a 2-4 months, and sell it before I get hit with the typical 15-20% depreciation in the first year...or even come out a little ahead.

As it stands, my S550 would arrive in the following:
Anthracite Blue/Exclusive Black Nappa Leather/Sunburst Myrtle Wood Exclusive Trim
Premium Pack 1
Drivers Assistance
Night Vision
Air Balance
Magic Body Control
Power Rear Seats with Memory (required with exclusive leather)
(regular trim) (They screwed up not including the Sports pack1, surround view cam, black poplar trim. And I didn't order night vision)(As someone previously mentioned, my dealership is very busy and my order was probably "resold" to someone with deeper pockets than myself)

Any thoughts on the continued demand for the cars...are the waiting lists for the cars growing, stalled, shrinking? Will exclusive leather help keep the depreciation down til there is more supply?

General thoughts?

6 to 8 hours a day? What a waste of your expensive time! I think you should seriously consider an entry-level helicopter and get your life back. I'm not joking.

I've considered it, or even the "Martin Jetpack" but it doesn't have enough range. I live in northern Los Angeles, and often travel to San Diego, Riverside, Newport Beach, Hollywood & Bev Hills. It's a mixture between highway cruising in the morning for 2 hours and traffic snail driving in the evenings. I can luckily schedule conference calls throughout the day while in my car.

You should just get your hands on the S-Class nearest to you (timewise), make use of it and then dispose of it when your S-Coupe or next preferred car comes in. Not knowing what your current car is, you still arguably get marginal utility (pleasure) from the purchase, and who cares about the depreciation hit - just part of the cost for the pleasure. A car is clearly more to you than it is to the typical person, as you spend nearly as much time in it as one spends in his home (actually, more waking hours). Just buy it.

Kratos, you used to be Feb/March delivery if my memory serves me. How were you able to move it up...or does my memory just suck?

It was always Jan/Feb. I did put more emphasis on Feb, which is probably why you thought it was Feb/March. And it still may be any of them. Actually the dealer isn't quite sure, so it could Jan/Feb/Mar.....lol.

Transeco introduces their armored Mercedes S-Class -
Can handle everything from a 357 Magnum to an M16
If you can't hold out until Mercedes launches a new S Guard, you're in luck as Transeco has introduced a new armoring program for the Mercedes S-Class.

Designed to appeal to business owners and heads of state, the Transeco S500L offers a ballistic protection level of 7. This means the car can stand up to everything from a .357 Magnum to an M16 pelleting it with 5.56 x 45mm rounds.

In order to keep occupants safe, the car has been equipped with laminated glass windows, armored pillars and underbody protection. There's also a self-sealing fuel tank and armored boxes that protect the battery and other key electrical components.

Other highlights include high-performance brakes, an upgraded suspension and run-flat tires that can be driven for 50 km (31 miles) at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph) after being punctured.

They simply cant do any review where s-class lose today with his price range competitors.........and RRover........dont know why its even on this review....

Yeah, that thing looks pretty good, and I still think it's the king of the Super Premium Luxury Sedans. I don't see the next gen 7er touching it, other the CF body shaving weight.
