To me this metalized wood is real wood that looks like real plastic (IRL). I wouldn't go for that combination Kratos-TM
I'm not sure the cold colour of the silver works with the warm colour of the seats, but it's YOUR interior. I've definitely seen worse ... I'd need to see pics that aren't a simulation
I think it's cool looking, I was never a fan of the granite that Designo used to offer.![]()
Kratos, I'm not going to lie I'm not a fan of that color combo. I don't like that color against the extremely light colored seats. That wood would look good with a black interior. To each their own of course, that's why we have options!
.
I totally understand your perspective. And these "simulation" pics makes the Ash look horrible. I've seen what Ash looks like on other combos in "real" pics, so I'm putting together in my head what I "think" the finish product will be. Could come out horrific, I know.....just going on a hunch here that it could be something special.
If it comes out a disaster, my wife and I are prepared for the impact.
I'm certainly interested to see the result.Just a thought- perhaps your dealer can get you some swatches of leather and a sample piece of wood for you to help visualize. I've never done that at my MB dealer but have done so at other luxury car dealerships.
Does anyone know the process taken to metalise the wood ?![]()
If your build date is January, aren't you getting close to the time you have to finalize the order? Does anyone how much time it takes to build once they start? Or at least how many weeks before build do you need to finalize it?Good pic. Thanks for posting. If you find anymore Ash, please post them. I'm trying to gather as many pics as possible before my January delivery.

I'm going to answer my own question as I went to a dealer and changed the settings between km and mph today. I needed my semi-monthly fix. Also, I'm a big guy and usually when I sit in a car I move the seat all the way back. Not so in this car but even all the way back my wife had plenty of room in the seat behind me.I wonder if anyone that has the W222 can tell me if they can change their speedo from MPH to KMH? I looked in both manuals but could not find a way to change it. I'm picking up my car in Germany for EDP but as it is a US version, I am curious if this is changeable. If not, perhaps they will update it in Brunswick when the car gets Stateside.
Thanks
Tom

Is that what you do when you make guitars?I think is a dye/stain, Luke. My guess is Mercede's does the "double stain" technique, that's to apply the dye/stain one time, let dry, then sand the wood again to remove a considerable amount of that stain and the apply a new coat of stain, but with lesser opacity. That's how you also make the wood's grain more visible.
Yes, it's a technique widely used in instruments making. It can turn plain looking wood into show stoppers, as highlights grain very well, but also takes off a bit of the 3D/deep effect on some figured woods like quilted/flame maple. In those cases I just aply one coat of stain and pass to the laquer stage, without double staining. Is that what you do when you make guitars?
