S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
This way to the truth to Equus he is reminding me Lexus especially are looking at the back, however a front is typically a Korean fantasy;]

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I had no problem when Lexus copied Mercedes, and had no issues when Mercedes copied BMW with the interior of the 221 (vs the E65) and possibly the tail (although Maybach concept had preceded the 7 series at least in concept form in implementing the humpback trunk). I have no issues with Hyundai imitating Mercedes either. No one will be fooled: S-Class customers won't be mislead to an Equus and vice-versa (Can't say the same for Lexus LS customers).

My God...I saw one on the road yesterday. That car is simply magnificent. It almost had a Maybach like presence and the design seemed so flowing. Absolutely flawless! I almost broke my neck trying to see it.

You would think by now I would be tired of seeing it thanks to the 17.5 million photos in this thread, but it's a whole new experience seeing it in person.

Exactly! I thought the same thing. With all the photos in this thread, I thought my mind was saturated with it.......BUT.......NO, when I saw it in person......O.M.G! :woot::woot::woot:

I have only seen it once as it passed in the other direction. I was quite underwhelmed, I guess depends on the setting.

Depends on the perception of the individual. If we're looking for something to wow us like an exotic car or low production hand build, we'll be underwhelmed. But when we mentally keep the car in line with it's class (Audi and BMW), relative to seeing 7-series driving around town, it's definitely a step up.

Also I think location is a player too. If you're in a place where you see high ends all the time, nothing about an S class will wow you. But where I'm from (rural Mississippi), nobody has anything above a benz, so it's a lot easier to wow us.

So for me, I'm over-whelmed. :)

^^ Isn't that what the S-Class is all about? A car that doesn't scream hey look at me... Understated 1st class luxury for those that know they've arrived...

So that you do not think I am looking for flash in the S-Class...

By "underwhelmed" I meant that seeing the new S-Class on the road was a near-seamless experience vs seeing the its predecessor. There is a huge degree of continuity to the design. I suppose I was expecting an "event" in seeing the new model for the first time, something that clearly did not happen for me, and which does not disappoint me.

Full disclosure: I am at the moment not an active prospect for S-Class ownership. At 34 with a young family, my decision swings between a reasonably equipped C or a basic E (as well as their BMW counterparts). I would be returning to the MB fold after six years of owning mid-premium Asian cars - before that, MB V220 and R230 (pre-crisis opulence). Affording a S is not the biggest issue, a significantly changed approach to fiscal risk is.

Hmm..In a way I can understand that. Although the new S-class is magnificent, it still is some what similar to the W221 as far as size and overall shape. The W126 - W140 -W220-w221 all had dramatic changes, where the W221 and W222 almost remind me of the changes between the W116 and the W126.

Even though there isn't a out of this world change is the overall shape, the new S-class is still very impressive.
