S-Class (W222) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
That'll be be really nice. Right now I'm spec'd with Anthracite Blue/Black & Black poplar may change it brown), and the exclusive nappa leather, Magic Body Control, P01, Driving Assist, Air Balance Pack, LED Headlights. I'd love to have the surround camera package, but don't want to wait on it since it's delayed. That about tops what I'd like to spend on the car. I'm considering not having the diamond stitched leather, and getting sport package instead. Sport pack certainly looks better...although I spend all of my time on the inside of my car :)

Where are you in Souther Cal? I'm in Pacific Palisades.
Cool... As you might guess, I'm in the 714 area code, Newport Beach...
Designo and MBC combo is hard to beat. The car looks good without Sports Pack as long as it's in a dark color, I'm getting SP because of that beautiful front fascia, and the fact that I think all the non-AMG wheels are hideous...
Have you thought about the designo Deep sea blue/Silk beige combo? With Anthracite, that interior combo would be stunning...:-)

you can adjust color and intensity of color.

One fear people at MBUSA have with the S Class, is that it may be too technologically advanced for its regular S Class buyer who is older. But at the same time the hope is for its clientele to get younger...

Those buyers can get a Rolls Royce. Simple to use, no technology, hand built - the reason why everything is straight and boxy.

Went to check it out yesterday, looks good. Unlike when they displayed the new E-Klasse they didn't have it open for you to climb through :)
Went to the Porsche Museum as well.... They were celebrating 50 years 911 :)

LOL :D The only reason you are not taking it to the scrap yard is that it gives you the excuse to troll on BMW :D
Where are you hiding that S-Class, mate? :D
Haha I'm very near to driving off a god damned cliff, it just died on me yesterday, then it went on to acting a god damned fool by delivering nearly zero power. Had to drive it home and disconnect the battery in order to restore the malfunction safety mode crap of the ecu.
Now it's back to its "glorious" self.
I have a sense that it knows I'm getting rid of it ASAP, so it's acting up like a clingy girlfriend (or a BMW fan)

:D

I forgot to mention, I was sitting at a restaurant later, people watching, and Dieter Zetsche did a 3 point turn in front of me in his SLS. The food fell out of my mouth.
Maybe if he did 180 turn, I would be impressed:P Just kidding:) I was always wondering what car he drives, are you sure SLS is his own?

No idea if it's his own, I'm sure he can take whatever car he likes ? It was in a magno monza grey I think.... basically a flat dark grey.... and with personalised plates. Probably a company car.

Do we think the S class will become "backordered" after it's been out a few months and orders start piling in? Or do you think MB has it under control and can pump out enough units to satisfy orders within the average production time of 8-12 weeks?

I would expect Mercedes to keep enough in stock to meet supply. This isn't a special edition sedan or anything like that- they're trying to go for high sales numbers so I'd expect them to act accordingly.

Sindelfingen(S-, E- and C-Class), Rastatt(A- and B-Class) and presumably Kecskemet(CLA-Class) all working through traditional summer 2/3 week shutdown to meet demand. Bremen(C-Class) and Hambach(Smart) being prepped for new model changeover in shutdown.

The aim is to produce at least 100.000 units per year of all S Class variants, Mr Zetsche said. Current production number is around 80.000 units. So, one should expect they are prepared to produce that number without any difficulties.

The U.S. market is going burst wide open when this car arrives. There is TennMB, I bet he can tell us what the orders are looking like.

TennMB you out there??????

Hoping someone can answer this, it's more a general question but something I noticed when looking at the S-Class models in the museum. Basically as per the clay models the design for the S was already set in stone back in 2009. Does this mean that the facelifts that the car will receive will already have been done or worked on at this point, or is that something more adapted as they go ?
