Not at night when cars behind you shine their headlights on the mirrors .

I've actually never had it get drowned out by cars headlights before. But then again I have auto dimming side mirrors.

Finally won over by the face lift version, the designers made the right choice to tighten the front bumper and update the headlights with the triple LED DRL.

I've always found the bumper of the pre-FL luxury line to be a bit too pudgy. FL looks sharp in person.

On the other hand, front bumper of the pre-fl AMG line was so well excuted, I'm still debating whether or not the FL is an improvement.

Exactly my thoughts, the FL works better on the car without the AMG line, however the I too think the pre-fl AMG line looks sharper than the FL version.

I can't believe they used to jump the cars like that!!! I say this every time, the bodyroll is hysterical. OMGEE lol.

^ The doors are aluminum, so that is a big reason why it feels light. The competition isn’t much different.

The interior quality of the W222 is superior to the W220 & W221, especially the quality of leather and most switches. We have a few s-class owners members that could attest to that.

It's true. I knock on the upper portions of my S550 doors on the inside and it does have a hollow sound. It is something my step son and fiance both noticed. It's extremely disappointing coming from such a grand and amazing car. Another thing that kills me (an issue i also found in my W221) are the plastic bins under the seat creak and squeak occasionally. My fiance drives a 2017 LX570 and has a 2004 LS430 he's passing down to his son and they both do not have this problem. The 3rd generation LS is a Lexus in the truest form. That car is built extremely well, my God.

The leather in the W222 is better, but for an overall sense of solidity and Teutonic-ness, I'd have to give the W221 the win. I'd pick the W222 every single time though. It's unrivaled.

Well that's a bit saddening. I have a S Coupé coming in a few months, so it'll likely be the same story. I spent some time in various W222s, but I guess not enough time to get past what JD Power calls the "Initial Quality Study".

Hmm. Not sure I like appreciate such an Audi-esque combination of mud grey with black highlights on an S-Class.

Those who own/owned, or have tested, both the FL and 2014-17 pre-FL W222, do you think there is any difference in noise intrusion into the cabin? There is a fellow on another forum who has that complaint.

I can't remember noticing any difference.

MB should move the blind spot light from inside the mirror itself to the mirror cover facing the driver. VW cars do this.
The perfect position of the blind spot warning signal is the distant mirror frame. Not inside the mirror surface because of potential reflections from behind (particularly at night), and not the inside of the mirror housing (the surface closest to the side window). The reason being that based on safety ergonomics, warning symbols should 'follow' the driver's (physical) safety precautions. More concretely, the driver should first take a look in the mirror and then see the warning symbol or at least skim the mirror from the corner of the eye while checking the warning symbol but he or she should not get the warning info before even checking the situation physically.
