Jesse from @benzblogger said the I6 is coming next year to replace the S450.

I have a copy of the 2019 Dealer Order Guide, attached, and unfortunately there is no sign of an I6 for 2019. In fact, though I haven't done a line by line comparison, the only change from 2018 seems to be the addition of a color choice, Aragonite Silver.

I wish I could sit in on their product planning meetings. I would flood the U.S. market with more models from Europe just for a couple of model years to see what catches on and what doesn't, once we've done the customary research. I would definitely bring over the Euro S500 and demand that our S450 get the I6. The S560 would then go to 485hp. Why not a S500 Coupe/Cabrio also? A-Class hatchback, only in top of the line A250 trip with the fancy MBUX standard, it would draw in younger buyers more easily IMO. I'd push the gas on the E300 models too, all of them would become 299hp E350 models. Mercedes needs to go even more premium/luxury, quit pandering on price, people will pay whatever for something that is done right.

Mercedes has done some brilliant things lately, but they aren't there yet totally. The split between luxury and sport with cars like the E300/E400 vs the E43/63 is a brilliant move. I suspect the next GLE will be that way too. GLE450, GLE53 and GLE63. Something for everyone. The next GLS had better be a revelation, luxury for days. Outdoing the current S-Class should be the goal. Then the Maybach variant.

A_Class sedan doesn't need to be "under 30K" because we all know what $29,999 means. Again MBUX should be standards since younger buyers like this type of tech.

Get with it MBUSA. Demand higher quality from Germany, build, fit and finish, paint etc. A Benz used to be the best at this stuff.

Pretty sure ordering guides change several times, so there might be a chance they'll add it.

MBUSA is lazy and often incognizant compared to Audi USA & BMWUSA, so I doubt it. It's as if they're fully focused on their relocation to ATL right now.

The ordering guides also look the same every year.

The ordering guide isn't going to change as far as models/engines like that.

Like @Mr. Mercedes, I too have notice the drop in overall quality in MB, perhaps not so much with the S class, but definitely with the C class and the E class, for both exterior and interior fit and finish. There are inconsistent panel gaps, misalignment around the bonnet, the boot and the headlights. Some parts of the interior trim feels hollow, thin and it creaks when you apply some pressure to them. The paint is thinner and it chips far more easily compare to before.

MB might have changed their marketing slogan to "The best or nothing" it might work on customers new to the brand but not for existing owners and long time fans.

Same with MB Australia, order guide rarely changes, and it will remain the same for 2 years.

For those who won't settle for less, FL S65.

The new AMG line bumper is really growing on me. Initially I thought it was a bit too soft and rounded, but the newer design flow nicely with the rest of the car.

When you see it in person only realises the massive presence on AMG kit.

I saw one yesterday, in ruby red metallic, I like how the AMG front bumper breaks up the wide lower front grill, it looks more "finished".

New-gen Mercedes petrol engines coming to India this year
16th Mar 2018 11:06 am
3.0-litre straight-six engine will replace petrol V6 motor in the S 450, which was introduced as a stop-gap measure.

However, we have now learnt that the V6 petrol motor introduced in the new S-class is only a stop-gap measure, and that the M256 straight-six petrol engines are indeed on their way to India. They should find its way into the S-class by the end of the year, and subsequently, it will roll out into other models like the GLE and GLS – although that may be only in the facelifts or next generation of these SUVs.

The question then is, should you buy an S 450 knowing that it will get a new engine within 12 months? Sure, this will affect your re-sale value and your decision, but as you’ll see in our review, it’s a refined motor with strong performance, and of course, there are all the other strengths of the S-class that still remain.
