What a stunning launch. Does anyone got the video of the same?

From the pics it looks like one of the best launches ever!..just look at all those classic S Class beauties, you never get to see this sort of a set up here in europe..

German car makers usually cost big money to hold grand ceremony in China, because they can earn the biggest profits back from there, all the bills are paid by Chinese customers in the end.

Funny. During the W220 days and before, 99.99% of the Chinese didn't even know MB existed.
And now they're showing the classics over there. LMAO. I'm sure many have fond memories of them

NO,totally wrong.
Since W126,Mercedes began to popular in China. In W140 era,it's everywhere in the big cities of China.but majority of these cars were owned by mogul organizations ,such as government, military and big company at that time. This is the key reason why Mercedes S-Class is regarded as the most prestigious brand by Chinese people. At now,Mercedes S-Class for the most are private owned, especially for businessman, they want to show off their wealth.

I once worked in a sino-foreign joint venture 20 years ago in China, under Chinese policies of that time,tax-free imported cars were awarded to sino-foreign joint venture according to the amount of investment money. So,I experienced many imported car at that time,Mercedes W140 S600SEL,Bmw E32 735iL,TOYOTA CROWN J133 were among of them, the cheapest Crown J133 was the best reliable car I have driven in my life, but the German duo were problematic. This left me the impression that the quality of German luxury car actually can't match their prestige.

The boss preferred German car over Japanese car,he didn't choose then hot Lexus LS400, the board meeting members and senior managers were all provided with German car, from Mercedes W140 600SEL to Bmw E34 525i.The Toyota Crown was used for hospitality.
At that time, there wasn't any car warranty laws and policies by government and car makers in China,it costs a huge money to maintain and repair these German luxury cars.

Auto makers and their PR partners spend oceans of meney on such events in a whole year here.Of course corruptions are inevitable within these activities, that is why they are all passionate about these events.

This is the connection between advanced technologies/additional specs and reliability. Not nearly as much could go wrong with a Toyota Crown than a 735iL or S600. The Crown was not more reliable. It was just a far simpler piece of engineering.

S400d is pretty quick:
0-100kmh in 5,4sec
0-160kmh in 12,8sec
0-200kmh in 21,0sec

These wheels are very "meh"

A bit off topic; I saw a pre-fl Maybach, which looked exactly like this and I thought it really looked good. The S65 bumper gives it a lot of presence.

If the person I spoke is to be believed, this W221 S65 was the very first S-Class with a factory matte paint finish. I joked that he was the guy to blame for MB's "Magno" paint trend

I've noticed that S63 when Launch control is active changes to 2nd gear when 33km/h are reached while E63 S changes to 2nd gear at 60 km/h. That's why I never seen 0-100 in 3.5s, but 0-200 km/h is similar to E63 S time.

Such a beautiful car. My only complaint is that V6 in the S450. This was their chance to debut the I6 in America, but I suspect the 2019 S450 will get the I6 along with about a dozen other Mercedes models for the 2019 model year.
