Poor sales have not been caused by the looks of the but simply because a great percentage of people in the market for a large car, simply buy an SUV. Giving the R-Class a generic face that's a blend between the ML and GL, will not turn things around for the model.

SUVs are selling in crazy numbers cannabalizing sales of wagons and MPVs. The R-Class will cannot thrive.

So true, the other issue is that this car was made when Daimler was rather being skimpy with their interior appointments. I remember the concept's interior when it was revealed and loved it. In production form it was plasticized to a point where it did not feel like an M-B. Just based on the picture of the gauges, not much has changed. I'm hoping with more pics of the interir, I'll be proven wrong.

Much better than before..and still as before the hottest VAN money can buy..

But it wont be a hit.. and i suspect MB not making any more R´s after this..

But its alot easier on the eyes now

now only if they could give us new V6 gasoline :/

Definitely a great update and the new V6 CDI sounds fabulous - perfect engine for this cruiser… …still don't think that there is a big market for such cars.

I've always thought the R class was quite nice looking, and still think so. IMHO, its much better looking than the 5 series GT and I'd buy it over that.

Prefacelift is butt ugly. This a good improvement but then again its not impossible to improve something thats ugly from the beginning.

It looks better than before, but it isn't saying much. Now it looks like a giant B-class.
