Rather, it depends almost exclusively on presenting entirely new models versus just FL's; the market is relentless in that respect and always has been—novelty rules.

I guess Mercedes Benz expected the EQS to become the successor, they didn’t have plans for another generation of ICE SUVs at all.

This was absolutely stupid.

I disagree . If we see the global sales of these cars, BMW will be right with their predictions.

The reason why EVs are very popular in some countries are the ridiculous taxes in these countries, which are pure nonsense.

Don't know what you exactly mean, but these very global sales prove the quality and sales aren't intertwined as you make believe

It was originally planned to extend the production run of the GLE/GLS and to make the successor EV only.

I might be going off course again here, but the importance of this FL GLS for Mercedes is highlighted again by some Chinese competition. Mercedes has to bring something fresh inside with better quality dash and switches etc.

This is the Huawei Aito M8. Except for the front headlights, lack of grill and tail light design from the side you can see GLS styling elements. Just look at the interior and you can see where they get their design inspiration from. It has similarities to MB in the screen designs (CLA/Hyperscreen), steering wheel (GLS/S-class), column stalks (half plastic and metal like S-class) armrest with curvy trim panel (S-class), boot switch in the door pocket, split front armrest with central metal switch to open it.

Spy photos suggest that the headlights are getting much bigger and thicker, and the taillights resemble the current GLC EV, hence the lowered license plate.

Those headlight graphics are distinctive but nuts. Reminds me of double fog lights.

I wonder if Mercedes got the memo and set the next GLS off in the direction of the next S-Class instead of relation to the GLE? This is their chance to one up the X7 which will have already been out of a few years. I fully don't expect the 2nd GLS FL to move the needle much. It will merely be a placeholder at this point as the next X7 will likely blow it completely away in the inevitable comparisons.

Yeah GLE should be more related to E-class. GLS should be pure S-Class SUV , Benchmark of Mercedes.

We better e-mail them again otherwise.

Would be excellent, and BMW would have no other way but have a similar response with the 3rd gen X7 (after the upcoming one which will be an extended X5 yet again).
