GLE [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLE (W166)

The Mercedes-Benz GLE, formerly Mercedes-Benz M-Class (designated with the "ML" nomenclature), is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz since 1997. In terms of size, it is slotted in between the smaller GLC and the larger GLS, the latter with which it shares platforms.
Der_Landgraf with a GLE 350 d tried to catch MB Passion driving a GLE 450 AMG Coupe. No chance, as the diesel topped out already around 203 km/h on the slight uphill. :)

The first GLE video was just released, driving offroad with the lead testing engineer in the offroad parcours in a quarry near Saalfelden, Austria. It demonstrates DSR on steep downhills, for example, without using the brakes and set to speeds of around 2 to 4 km/h. Also on side slopes of up to 26 degrees, still well below the maximum of 38, but already quite scary for a lot of drivers and passengers. We also learn the GLE Coupe is in high demand already, e.g. in Russia, and its production numbers may even surpass the GLE. It will be produced only for 3 to 3.5 years, they claim. :)

That would be quite impressive if the GLE Coupe manages to outsell the GLE. Particularly since they will probably make more money on every GLE Coupe unit produced.

I saw this car parked at my work today. The round nose and shape make it look immense. Just a few parking spots away was an X6 in the same colour that almost looked small. It's not my cup of tea but can understand the appeal if you want a unique car.

Are you ready to be super-knowledgeable about the latest Mercedes-Benz models? Now you’ll be able to tell the ML from the GLE SUV and Coupe! The 2016s have arrived and I am excited to introduce you to them.

From the front: Count the grille slats. The 2015 ML350 has 3, the GLE350 has two and the GLE450 has one.

The noses have a slightly different profile. The headlights have changed from the 15 to the 16.

The steering wheel and infotainment screen are the obvious interior differences.

The 15 ML has a clear portion in the middle of the tail light and the 2016 has the clear portion at the bottom.

The coupe is pretty easy to pick out!

I have all three available now at Atlanta Classic Cars. Come see which Mercedes-Benz is right for you!

Wrong thread.

I presume you're talking about the GLE Coupe? Your comparison with an X6 and describing it as a "unique" car suggest you mean the coupe. This is the GLE (five door) thread.

I'm not criticising either you or Soup. I think it highlights the confusion that can occur by using the same model name as the five door.

Benzblogger also made a video for us. :)

The GLE comes standard with the crosswind assist. It's based on the ESP, and starts to compensate side movements in strong crosswinds at speeds above around 80 km/h. :)
