@Wolfgang

Does W166 have difflocks (which W164 had with optional OFF ROAD package)?

Yes, the GLE comes with optional diff lock and reduction gear. Here's a description. :)

DYNAMIC SELECT combined with off-road drive programmes

The DYNAMIC SELECT dynamic handling control system of the new GLE offers up to six drive programmes. In addition to the established settings INDIVIDUAL, COMFORT, SLIPPERY and SPORT, in the 4MATIC models the driver can choose the additional OFFROAD setting for mild terrain with the DYNAMIC SELECT controller on the centre console. If the GLE model is equipped with the optional Off-Road Engineering package, the OFFROAD+ setting is available. In this setting, the off-road reduction gear and a 100% inter-axle differential lock come into play to generate high traction even in challenging terrain. This is further boosted by the expanded functions of the AIRMATIC air suspension with raised ride heights for a ground clearance of up to 285 millimetres and a fording depth of 600 millimetres. The reinforced underfloor panelling of this equipment variant protects important components against not so gentle contact with the ground. Source: Daimler

Maybe some electronic stuff, because W164 had front diff lock (see pictures above).

btw. nice pics with G wagen

So, in spite of the extensive facelift and rebadging exercise - they kept the ugly tail lights. Just goes to show again, once the sheetmetal is tooled for, there's no changing it for the facelift.

I see what you mean but this GLE also looks like complete shit next to the W213 E class. And the all-new GL (S) will probably really be an S class SUV considering BMW is bringing the X7.

The first GLS will be a facelift of the current car. Which I think is completely unacceptable calling it an 'S'. Only in 2018 could we get a real GLS.

It is also completely unacceptable to call the GLE interior an 'E' interior.

They could have changed the shape of the part inside the boot lid. And the whole lower part of the side, which is plastic.
They could completely and utterly change the shape without touching the sheetmetal if they wanted. And not make it expensive either, according to the rules of a successful facelift (like the BMW 1er; completely different but the same shape around the sheetmetal)

Looks good in the real live pics. Now bring on the GLC and the GLS.

The e is the hybrid right?

It is.

How many times has MB changed their nomenclature? I think this one is for the better, because proably no one knew what the heck bluetec meant.
